On March 6, Montgomery McCracken Walker & Rhoads partner Gary M. Edelson spoke at Montgomery County Development Corp.'s business seminar series in Pottstown.
Edelson provided an overview of how the new federal tax rules and regulations will impact businesses in 2018 and beyond.
At Montgomery McCracken, Edelson concentrates his practice on issues related to income tax, taxation of pass-through entities, estate and gift tax, mergers and acquisitions, taxation of qualified plans and tax-exempt entities that invest in pass-through entities.
In connection with these matters, Edelson has represented “S” corporations, limited liability companies and partnerships (including private investment vehicles), registered investment companies and grantor trusts.

Hamburg, Rubin, Mullin, Maxwell & Lupin's William G. Roark presented “The Medical Marijuana Act and Your Practice” CLE at the Chester County Bar Association's spring bench bar conference.
Roark discussed the numerous unexpected ways legal issues surrounding the act can come across a practitioner's desk.
Roark chairs the firm's medical marijuana law practice.
He represents individuals and businesses in the medical marijuana industry by helping them comply with Pennsylvania's Medical Marijuana Act.
His time is spent assisting clients to understand the permitting application process and the requirements associated with entering this industry.
He has been asked to plan and present at various educational seminars teaching other professionals about this new law.
Since 2014, he has devoted his time to expanding the legal profession's knowledge and awareness of the Medical Marijuana Act and its precursors so that the profession can be better prepared to meet the numerous legal needs on the horizon.
Roark is also co-chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association's medical marijuana and hemp law committee.

Danielle Karcich, a bankruptcy and restructuring associate in the Philadelphia office of McCarter & English, is scheduled to participate in the American Inns of Court leadership summit on April 20 in Philadelphia after being one of only two attorneys nominated to attend by the leaders of the Lifland Inn of Court.
Karcich focuses her practice on commercial litigation with an emphasis on construction, contract and conveyancing.
Prior to joining McCarter & English, Karcich clerked for Gloucester County, New Jersey, Superior Court Judge Mary K. White.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

Edmund Polubinski and Marie Killmond of Davis Polk & Wardwell have entered appearances for data platform software development company MongoDB and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
