On March 23, Conrad O'Brien's Patricia Hamill spoke at the fourth annual symposium “Representing Students Accused of Sexual Assault in the Post Dear-Colleague Letter Era: What Comes Next?” in Washington, D.C.
Hamill led the lunchtime discussion on using expert witnesses in Title IX litigation, together with Charles Wayne of DLA Piper.
Hamill has experience representing clients spanning a breadth of matters, including complex commercial litigation, Title IX litigation, receiverships, insurance, securities, consumer class actions, government investigations and e-rate compliance.
Her clients are in a wide range of industries, including technology, insurance and securities.
In addition to her practice, Hamill is also a member of the firm's three-person executive committee that manages and oversees the firm.

Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law's The Eleanor H. McCullen Center for Law, Religion and Public Policy is scheduled to host Ross Douthat, a columnist for The New York Times, for the “Pope Francis and the Future of Catholicism” discussion at 4 p.m. on April 10.
Douthat is an opinion columnist for The New York Times, covering politics, religion, moral values and higher education.
He joined The New York Times in 2009 as an op-ed columnist.

Richard R. Goldberg, a retired Ballard Spahr partner, was presented the Frederick S. Lane Award from the American College of Real Estate Lawyers on March 24 in Orlando, Florida.
Goldberg, who retired from Ballard Spahr in 2011, is a former ACREL president, served as chairman of several ACREL committees, has taught hundreds of continuing legal education courses for ACREL and other organizations and is a former adjunct professor at Temple University's Beasley School of Law.
In his retirement, he continues to teach CLE courses.
In nearly five decades in the practice of real estate law, Goldberg handled a series of deals for landmark properties, large shopping malls and hotels.
He practiced for 18 years in Ballard Spahr's real estate department, concentrating in real estate development, financing, leasing and acquisition.

The Pennsylvania State University Press has released a text titled “The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania: Life and Law in the Commonwealth, 1684-2017,” edited by John J. Hare.
The encyclopedic publication addresses the structure and powers of the Supreme Court, along with many specific areas.
Cliff Rieders and Pamela L. Shipman authored chapter 18: “Clash of Titans: The Supreme Court and Products liability.”
In that chapter, the two attorneys examined the important battleground of products liability.
The text is full of stories and vignettes concerning the work of the oldest court in North America.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

Edmund Polubinski and Marie Killmond of Davis Polk & Wardwell have entered appearances for data platform software development company MongoDB and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The suit was filed Sept. 7 in Wisconsin Western District Court by Levine Eisberner LLC and Siri & Glimstad on behalf of a project manager who claims that he was wrongfully terminated after applying for a religious exemption to the defendant's COVID-19 vaccine mandate. The case, assigned to U.S. Magistrate Judge Anita Marie Boor, is 3:24-cv-00630, Secker, Nathan v. Epic Systems Corporation.

David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
