Panitch Schwarze Belisario & Nadel partner Dr. Jeffrey W. Gluck participated in the Penn Intellectual Property Symposium “Open Source's Impact on Innovation” on March 27.
The program focused on how the open source movement has affected today's technology-driven world.
Gluck participated on the “Open Source Licensing and Business Models” panel, which focused on a discussion surrounding open-source licensing strategies and business models used by industry leaders.
Gluck specializes in electrical and computer-related technologies.
He represents clients in a variety of areas, including patent counseling and opinions, licensing and transactions, interferences, patent prosecution and re-examinations.
He assists on trial litigation and has been a lead attorney in appellate litigation.

Capehart & Scatchard is set to host “Understanding the FELA,” a continuing legal education seminar, at noon on Thursday and presented by Christopher J. Hoare of the firm.
This seminar is set to discuss the historical origins of the Federal Employers Liability Act of 1902 and its various subparts.
Participants will learn the essential elements of a FELA claim, the defenses to claims filed under the FELA, and how compensation under the FELA is calculated.

The Pennsylvania Bar Association Commission on Women in the Profession is set to present Drinker Biddle & Reath with a 2018 WIP award for the promotion of women in the law during the commission's 25th annual conference, “Empowering Women,” May 9 at the Hershey Lodge in Hershey.
The Promotion of Women in the Law Award was created last year to honor Pennsylvania law firms and solo practitioners, corporate law departments and other organizations providing legal services that have instituted programs or initiatives that help female lawyers continue and advance in their careers while maintaining a work-life balance.
Drinker Biddle has a variety of policies and programs that help all lawyers, including women, thrive in their professional and personal lives.
The firm's policies include a gender-neutral parental leave policy that supports leave time and flexible schedules and an alternative work arrangement policy that allows for reduced hour schedules and remote work.

Ivy Schneider, president of Helix Strategies, a subsidiary of McNees Wallace & Nurick's Community Networking Resources, was honored as the recipient of the Leadership Harrisburg Area's Extra Mile Award, at its annual conference held at the Radisson Harrisburg on April 4.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

Edmund Polubinski and Marie Killmond of Davis Polk & Wardwell have entered appearances for data platform software development company MongoDB and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
