Gov. Tom Wolf issued an executive order granting the Office of Administration the power to develop a data sharing protocol for Pennsylvania's state agencies.

Wolf's executive order furthers that state agencies must comply with the Office of Administration's directions over its data priorities, strategic plans, direct data investments, procurements and policy.

The order also requires the Office of Administration to create and chair an advisory committee for overall data governance, establish state agencies' IT data management and develop policy frameworks, provide guidance to state agencies in regard to the data policy, allow public announcements on state agencies' open data plans and policies and other duties.

The executive order, issued by Wolf on April 18, went into effect immediately.
