Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young partner Marissa Parker served as a panelist at the ICI Mutual Insurance Co. risk management conference on April 13 in Memphis, Tennessee.
Parker's panel, “Role Reversal: Funds as Plaintiffs,” discussed various processes and considerations for funds in evaluating whether to opt out of a U.S. class action by bringing a direct securities fraud suit, or participate in securities litigation overseas.
Parker, who serves as chair of Stradley Ronon's hiring committee, represents corporate, mutual fund, institutional and nonprofit clients as both plaintiffs and defendants in complex commercial litigation matters, with a focus in securities, investment management, health care and Employee Retirement Income Security Act.
Elected and Appointed
Kellie L. Rahl-Heffner, an attorney with Gross McGinley, was appointed to the board of directors for the Allentown Chamber of Commerce.
Along with her fellow board members, Rahl-Heffner will help carry out the association's mission to create, maintain and expand an environment conducive to the economic growth of Allentown.
As an arbitrator and mediator, Rahl-Heffner counsels families in matters that can best be resolved outside of the courtroom.
She also represents individuals and property owners in landlord-tenant matters including lease disputes, eviction filings and property maintenance.
Rahl-Heffner also supports the firm's litigation group.

Swartz Campbell's Josh J.T. Byrne, a partner with the firm, was appointed chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association's professional liability committee.
He is set to begin his new role effective May 12.
Byrne is a member of the professional liability group in Swartz Campbell's Philadelphia office.
Byrne is a hearing committee member serving the Disciplinary Board of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
He speaks throughout Pennsylvania on malpractice avoidance.
In February 2016, Byrne was appointed by the chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association to serve as a Zone One delegate to the Pennsylvania Bar Association's House of Delegates.

McNees Wallace & Nurick is set to host its 28th annual labor and employment seminar from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 11 at Hershey Lodge.
A pre-seminar network reception is scheduled to be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on May 10, also at Hershey Lodge.
This year's seminar will provide its attendees with information on sexual harassment in the workplace, employee benefits, updated workers' compensation law, labor law, wage-and-hour claim litigation, Pennsylvania's medical marijuana program, asset protection, the multigenerational workplace, the basics of HR and employee termination.
Credits are submitted for 4 CLE credits, 4 SHRM credits, 4 HRCI credits and 4 CPE (B&I) credits.
Preregistration is available through May 10 costing $149.
It will cost $229 the day of the seminar.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
