A state representative suggested adding the cost of acquiring music and story rights during postproduction to Pennsylvania's film tax credit. He said that move would make Pennsylvania more appealing to filmmakers.

Rep. Tim Briggs, D-Montgomery, said 2016's Act 84 allows for a tax credit for the expense of purchasing music and story rights during production but not post. Briggs said his proposed amendment would add a tax credit for the expense of acquiring music and story rights postproduction.

“If music rights are not included in the qualified postproduction expenses there is a reduced incentive to use a Pennsylvania-based music company,” said Briggs in his memo regarding his proposed amendment.
