Panitch Schwarze Belisario & Nadel partners Dr. Weihong Hsing, John Simmons and Dennis Butler participated in the 34th annual Joint Patent Practice Seminar on May 2 in New York City.
The Joint Patent Practice Continuing Legal Education is an annual one-day seminar that features speakers such as judges, government officials and attorneys discussing the latest trends and important topics in intellectual property law.
Hsing, chair of Panitch Schwarze's life sciences practice, acted as moderator during the biotech and high-tech panel.
Simmons and Butler, who both concentrate their practice on IP litigation, presented on legal ethics related to exceptional attorney fees for bad conduct during the litigation panel.
The firm also acted as a sponsor of the event.
CLE credits for Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania were available to attendees.

As part of Blank Rome's participation in the 2018 Eagles Autism Challenge, the firm's Philadelphia office and Veritext co-sponsored a Taco Tuesday Tailgate and competition on May 8 at One Logan Square.
Blank Rome attorneys and staff, as well as guest Councilman Derek Green, served one-of-a-kind taco recipes from Mojo Loco Food Truck and competed in raising the most money for their team's taco.
Through the Taco Tuesday Tailgate, Blank Rome raised $1,600 towards the Eagles Autism Challenge.

Angeliki N. Yannaris joined Dilworth Paxson in the firm's Philadelphia office as an associate in the corporate and business group.
Yannaris represents public and private corporations in matters of corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and the drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts.
She also acts as outside general counsel to emerging growth companies by assisting with day-to-day contracts, strategic alliances and business planning, and other legal issues companies face in their business operations.
Yannaris received her law degree from Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law.

Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young partner Patrick R. Kingsley was appointed to the arbitration committee of the International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution.
Kingsley, chair of Stradley Ronon's alternate dispute resolution and construction practice groups, has tried more than 40 cases involving diverse legal claims and fact patterns in several different forums across the country.
He handles a wide variety of complex commercial disputes, focusing much of his practice on construction and surety litigation.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
