About seven months after agreeing to decide whether ex-Pennsylvania House Speaker H. William DeWeese’s conviction should be overturned for ineffective assistance of counsel, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has had a change of heart.

The justices issued a one-line order June 1 dismissing the appeal as having been improvidently granted. The parties had filed briefs in mid-February and early March, according to the docket.
