Lamb McErlane attorney Darren Smith is scheduled to present on a panel regarding lobbying regulations at the state and local level for the Bucks County Bar Association on Wednesday.
This CLE course will provide an overview of considerations for lobbying at the state and local level in Pennsylvania, including rules specific to Philadelphia.
Topics covered will be lobbying registration and regulation, campaign finance regulation, and limitations on gifts and gratuities to public officials.
Smith is of counsel at Lamb McErlane.
He also serves as a lobbyist at Wojdak Government Relations in Harrisburg and Philadelphia.
Smith began his career as an attorney at a large law firm where he represented public sector clients in labor, employment and general litigation matters.

McNees Wallace & Nurick attorney Denise Elliott is set to serve as a panelist in the American Bar Association webinar titled, “Medical Marijuana: What Employers Need to Know” from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 29.
The panel will provide lawyers with guidance on whether and how to accommodate their employees who use marijuana for medical purposes or for off-duty personal consumption.
The program will review relevant federal and state case law, cover interaction between state and federal laws, and explore mandated drug testing policies.
Elliott is a member of the McNees Wallace labor and employment practice group where she focuses her practice on defending self-insured employers in workers' compensation matters and providing representation and counsel to clients in employment discrimination litigation, Americans with Disabilities Act/Family and Medical Leave Act compliance, safety drug and alcohol testing, and health issues.
The webinar is approved for 1.50 general CLE credit hours.

Prior to joining McAndrews Law Offices, Wilson worked for a boutique firm specializing in the areas of estate planning and estate administration.
Wilson has experience in resolving complex probate issues.
She was also an approved attorney with a national title insurance company and assisted clients on a variety of real estate matters.
After graduating from the University of Toledo College of Law, Wilson worked for a small general practice firm where she gained civil litigation experience and practiced primarily in the areas of family law, estate planning, estate administration and real estate.
During law school, she completed an externship with the Ohio Attorney General Office's Toledo regional office.

Several attorneys from Capehart Scatchard's workers' compensation department attended the sixth annual gala for Kids' Chance of New Jersey on July 26 at the Hilton East in East Brunswick, New Jersey.
The gala was a fundraiser for Kids' Chance, a nonprofit organization created to provide educational opportunities and scholarships for the children of workers who were fatally or catastrophically injured on the job.
John Geaney and Lora Northen, shareholders in the firm, serve as members of the Kids' Chance board of directors.
The highlight of the gala featured the presentation of scholarships to students whose parents suffered fatal or physically catastrophic injuries while working.
Geaney presented a check for $10,000, co-sponsored by Capehart Scatchard, to Will Gardner.
Gardner's father Bill Gardner, who worked for FedEx as a truck driver, lost his life in a work-related truck accident.

Driscoll from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr have stepped in to represent Symbotic Inc., an A.I.-enabled technology platform that focuses on increasing supply chain efficiency, and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

Edmund Polubinski and Marie Killmond of Davis Polk & Wardwell have entered appearances for data platform software development company MongoDB and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The case is 1:24-cv-07594, Roy v. Ittycheria et al.

The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
