Dilworth Paxson's Renardo “Rick” Hicks, a partner in the firm's Harrisburg office, was chosen to serve on the Middle District Judicial Selection Advisory Committee.
The 20-member judicial nomination advisory panel includes two co-chairs and will screen applicants for judicial vacancies on the federal district court for the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and submit the names to Pennsylvania's U.S. Sens. Bob Casey and Pat Toomey.
With more than 30 years of experience in the legal profession, Hicks has knowledge in a broad range of legal practices including litigation, education, and corporate matters.

The esports seminar hosted by McNees Wallace & Nurick, Harrisburg University and Whitaker Center is set to feature Adam Vasquez, president and CEO of Merit, in a discussion about investment and sponsorship opportunities in esports.
The event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. on Sept. 7 at the Whitaker Center in Harrisburg. Vasquez will explain how a company can break into the esports industry and avoid pitfalls.
The seminar, led by the McNees Wallace esports practice group, will also cover the legitimacy of esports, its role in higher education, team ownership and gambling.
Registration for the esports seminar costs $99.

Fox Rothschild welcomed Rick L. Etter as a partner in the firm's labor and employment practice.
He has experience litigating cases in state and federal courts and representing clients before the U.S. Department of Labor, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and numerous other government agencies.
He is particularly fluent in handling wage-and-hour issues, discrimination claims and noncompete and trade secrets matters.
He works with in-house counsel and senior management to evaluate a company's business, culture and needs to help identify potential risks and offers advice and solutions.

Amy Elizabeth McCall joined Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr as counsel in the higher education practice.
McCall is resident in the Pittsburgh office.
McCall will draw on her experience working in both private practice and in-house at three universities to assists institutions of higher education with compliance and operational issues.
She was previously the first general counsel for Point Park University, associate general counsel at Pennsylvania State University and interim Title IX coordinator at Robert Morris University.
Her experience from these roles includes handling both investigations and policy work involving Title IX, the Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights (OCR) and the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act.
She also handles contract review and negotiations, including those involving software, and provides advice on labor and employment issues.

Driscoll from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr have stepped in to represent Symbotic Inc., an A.I.-enabled technology platform that focuses on increasing supply chain efficiency, and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

Edmund Polubinski and Marie Killmond of Davis Polk & Wardwell have entered appearances for data platform software development company MongoDB and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The case is 1:24-cv-07594, Roy v. Ittycheria et al.

The suit was filed Sept. 7 in Wisconsin Western District Court by Levine Eisberner LLC and Siri & Glimstad on behalf of a project manager who claims that he was wrongfully terminated after applying for a religious exemption to the defendant's COVID-19 vaccine mandate. The case, assigned to U.S. Magistrate Judge Anita Marie Boor, is 3:24-cv-00630, Secker, Nathan v. Epic Systems Corporation.

David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
