In an effort to make sure no child goes to school with an empty backpack, employees of Capehart Scatchard donated school supplies to benefit Operation Fill-A-Backpack, sponsored by Oaks Integrated Care Inc.
Additionally, on Aug. 14, the firm held a Jeans Day fundraiser to support the cause. Attorneys and staff donated $2 to wear jeans to work for the day.
Over $200 was raised and will be sent, along with the school supplies collected, to Oaks Integrated Care.
|Elected and Appointed
Zachary M. Rubinich, a partner in Rawle & Henderson's Philadelphia office, was appointed the chair of the American Bar Association's tort trial and insurance practice (TIPS) workers' compensation and employers' liability law committee for 2018-19.
He was appointed at the American Bar Association's annual meeting held in Chicago.
The workers' compensation and employers' liability committee focuses on workers' compensation laws throughout the United States, including the interaction between workers' compensation and other federal and state laws and regulations.
The committee publishes several newsletters each year and provides educational instruction through webinars and an annual workers' compensation seminar, which address legal issues and national trends by experts in the field of workers' compensation.
Rubinich focuses his practice on the defense of insurance carriers, self-insured entities and third-party administrators against workers' compensation claims in Pennsylvania.
Based on his experience, the Pennsylvania Bar Association workers' compensation law section has certified him as a specialist in the practice of workers' compensation law.

Feldman Shepherd Wohlgelernter Tanner Weinstock Dodig attorney James P. Faunes joined the executive committee of justice rising advocates for Community Legal Services.
The group's mission is to engage young Philadelphians by broadening their understanding of CLS's work and why that advocacy is crucial to the fight for access to justice for all.
At Feldman Shepherd, Faunes' practice focuses on medical malpractice cases.
He joined Feldman Shepherd in 2016 after nearly three years litigating personal injury claims on behalf of the Philadelphia Law Department.
During his tenure as a deputy city solicitor, he represented Philadelphia police officers, firefighters and departmental employees, securing numerous verdicts on behalf of those individuals and entities at trial and arbitration.

Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young associate Kristen Gibbons Feden taught a course for Temple University's LL.M. Trial Advocacy Program on Aug. 7 in Philadelphia.
Feden's course focused on closing arguments.
Temple University's LL.M. in trial advocacy curriculum integrates the development of theory and theme, persuasive storytelling, extemporaneous speech and effective use of technology in the courtroom.
Feden concentrates her practice on complex commercial and class action litigation and white-collar defense.
Prior to joining Stradley Ronon, she was assistant district attorney in the trials division of the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office, where she served as captain of the Elder Abuse Unit and the Domestic Violence Unit, and as a member of the Sex Crimes Unit.
Her most notable case was Commonwealth v. Cosby, where she played a role in the first trial, which resulted in a hung jury, and the second trial where a conviction was attained.

David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
