As a tribute to Holland & Knight litigation partner Glenn Winuk, who died Sept. 11, 2001, assisting rescue efforts in the World Trade Center, Holland & Knight was among the sponsors of the 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance Initiative, an event aimed at encouraging volunteerism and organized in part by MyGoodDeed.org, a group cofounded by the late lawyer's older brother, Jay.
For their part, Holland & Knight lawyers and staffers from the firm's 18 U.S. offices have so far committed to a combined total of more than 2,000 days of service in connection with this year's remembrance initiative, according to the firm's director of strategic initiatives.
Speakers
Alan Nochumson, shareholder of Nochumson P.C., is set to lead a CLE seminar at the Jenkins Law Library titled “Drafting Residential Agreements of Sale in Pennsylvania” on Oct. 3.
During this seminar, Nochumson will discuss what every attorney in Pennsylvania should know about drafting a residential agreement of sale.
Among other things, he will focus on how to artfully draft an agreement of sale under terms and conditions that are most advantageous to either a seller or buyer, depending upon who the attorney is representing in the attempted real estate transaction.
He is an author and lecturer on issues commonly confronting businesses, individuals and professionals.
Nochumson has taught attorneys and real estate professionals about the nuances of the law and how to achieve personal success.

McNees Wallace & Nurick attorneys Jon Andrews and Jamie Strong are scheduled to present “Agritourism, Short-Term Rentals and More: Is Your Township Prepared for New and Trending Land Uses?” at the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors' regional fall forum at the Park Inn by Radisson in Mechanicsburg on Tuesday.
Andrews and Strong's session will focus on trending topics such as agritourism, wineries, breweries and short-term rentals.
It will provide guidance to avoid ordinance enforcement issues associated with these trending uses and prepare attendees to spot issues in advance to avoid attacks on their ordinances or a rush to accommodate new uses.
Andrews is co-chair of the McNees Wallace real estate group and practices in the eminent domain, oil and natural gas and pipeline and oil/gas infrastructure groups.
Strong practices in the firm's real estate group where he primarily represents wireless telecommunications providers and tower companies in land use and leasing matters.

“Savvy Social Security Planning: What CPAs, Attorneys and Other Professionals Need to Know About Social Security Claiming Strategies” is set to be presented by Eleanor Galt-Lin at noon on Oct. 4 at Capehart Scatchard's Mount Laurel, New Jersey, office.
This presentation will describe the various Social Security benefits, including: spousal, widow, divorced spouse and survivor benefits.
Attendees will learn about delaying benefits (and when to delay benefits) and gain an understanding of the tax on benefits.
The CLE is approved for 1.8 New Jersey credits and one and a half Pennsylvania credits (pending).

J. Brugh Lower of Gibbons has entered an appearance for industrial equipment supplier Devco Corporation in a pending trademark infringement lawsuit. The suit, accusing the defendant of selling knock-off Graco products, was filed Dec. 18 in New Jersey District Court by Rivkin Radler on behalf of Graco Inc. and Graco Minnesota. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Zahid N. Quraishi, is 3:24-cv-11294, Graco Inc. et al v. Devco Corporation.

Yalowitz of Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer have entered their appearances for Hanaco Venture Capital and its executives, Lior Prosor and David Frankel, in a pending securities lawsuit. The action, filed on Dec. 24 in New York Southern District Court by Zell, Aron & Co. on behalf of Goldeneye Advisors, accuses the defendants of negligently and fraudulently managing the plaintiff's $1 million investment. Attorneys from A&O Shearman has stepped in as defense counsel for Toronto-Dominion Bank and other defendants in a pending securities class action. The suit, filed Dec. 11 in New York Southern District Court by Bleichmar Fonti & Auld, accuses the defendants of concealing the bank's 'pervasive' deficiencies in regards to its compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and the quality of its anti-money laundering controls. Crown Castle International, a Pennsylvania company providing shared communications infrastructure, has turned to Luke D. Wolf of Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani to fend off a pending breach-of-contract lawsuit. The court action, filed Nov. 25 in Michigan Eastern District Court by Hooper Hathaway PC on behalf of The Town Residences LLC, accuses Crown Castle of failing to transfer approximately $30,000 in utility payments from T-Mobile in breach of a roof-top lease and assignment agreement.
