Martin Law partner Matthew Wilson was presented with the Irvin Stander Award for Professionalism on Oct. 4 at the fall section meeting in Hershey.
The award is generally bestowed annually by the Pennsylvania Bar Association to an attorney who has excelled in the practice of law, whose dedication to clients, professionalism and regard for colleagues serves as an example to others.
Irvin Stander, the award's namesake, was a respected authority in workers' compensation law and a founding member of the workers' compensation section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association.
Wilson is a partner of Martin Law and has practiced exclusively in the area of workers' compensation law for over 25 years.
For the last 14 years, he has co-authored the Pennsylvania Bar Institute's Workers' Compensation Practice and Procedure Manual.
Wilson has served on the Workers' Compensation Law Section Council of the Pennsylvania Bar Association since 2007 and is the past chair of the organization.

Capehart Scatchard is set to offer a CLE seminar on Nov. 6 titled “Fall Protection on Worksites: Taking It to a Whole New Level.”
The CLE, scheduled for noon Nov. 6 at Capehart Scatchard, 8000 Midlantic Drive, Suite 300S, Mount Laurel, New Jersey, will be presented by Jody DeMarco.
The presentation will focus on fall hazards, fall prevention and how creating a basic safety system will keep someone from becoming a fall victim. Statistics and common myths about falls will be discussed.

The Philadelphia Bar Association's annual election of officers and members of the board of governors will be conducted in 2018 via online ballot.
Officers to be elected are vice chancellor, secretary, treasurer, assistant secretary, assistant treasurer and five members of the board of governors for three-year terms.
According to Article IV, Section 406, Paragraph B, “The election shall be conducted electronically over the internet pursuant to procedures established by the board to preserve the confidentiality of the member's vote and the integrity of the voting process. The position of the nominee on the ballot shall be determined by lot. The drawing of lots shall be conducted by the judge of elections not less than 25 days before the commencement of voting in the presence of the nominees and/or their representatives. The form of the ballot shall be prescribed by the board.”
Members will receive their ballots in an email on Nov. 19 with instructions. Online voting will end at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 5.

Driscoll from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr have stepped in to represent Symbotic Inc., an A.I.-enabled technology platform that focuses on increasing supply chain efficiency, and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

Edmund Polubinski and Marie Killmond of Davis Polk & Wardwell have entered appearances for data platform software development company MongoDB and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The case is 1:24-cv-07594, Roy v. Ittycheria et al.

Amy O. Bruchs and Kurt F. Ellison of Michael Best & Friedrich have entered appearances for Epic Systems Corp. in a pending employment discrimination lawsuit. The suit was filed Sept. 7 in Wisconsin Western District Court by Levine Eisberner LLC and Siri & Glimstad on behalf of a project manager who claims that he was wrongfully terminated after applying for a religious exemption to the defendant's COVID-19 vaccine mandate. The case, assigned to U.S. Magistrate Judge Anita Marie Boor, is 3:24-cv-00630, Secker, Nathan v. Epic Systems Corporation.

David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
