The Litigation Counsel of America announced that Joseph J. Khan of Weisbrod Matteis & Copley in Philadelphia was a recipient of the Peter Perlman Service Award.
The award was presented to Khan by G. Steven Henry, LCA executive director and general counsel, at the 2018 Fall Conference & Celebration of Fellows held at Gurney's Newport Resort & Marina in Newport, Rhode Island.
The award recognizes LCA fellows who contribute in meaningful ways to society by giving back their time and resources in an effort to improve the lives of others.
After a 16-year career as a federal and city prosecutor leading high-profile prosecutions of CEOs, politicians and sex offenders, Khan now prosecutes complex claims of corporate misconduct throughout the United States.
|Elected and Appointed
Post & Schell principals John W. Dornberger and Mason Avrigian Jr. were appointed as co-chairs of the firm's construction, government contracts and surety law practice group.
They succeed group principals Gary A. Wilson and Kenneth L. Sable, who were both appointed as a chair emeritus.
Dornberger focuses his practice on commercial, construction, copyright and trademark infringement, mass tort and toxic tort litigation.
His construction litigation practice prosecutes and defends construction-based claims in federal and state courts, arbitration, administrative boards and tribunals and in dispute resolutions proceedings.
Avrigian represents owners, contractors, subcontractors, material producers and other parties in construction matters and construction litigation in Southeastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
He also handles general commercial litigation matters and real estate transactions and disputes.

Zachary A. Sivertsen of Eastburn and Gray is set to serve as faculty at a National Business Institute real estate seminar on Friday in Philadelphia.
The seminar is titled, “Top Challenges in Subdivision and Zoning.”
Sivertsen will specifically discuss difficulties in the land subdivision process.
Sivertsen practices land use and zoning, real estate, litigation, construction and municipal law at Eastburn and Gray.
He has appeared on behalf of clients before zoning hearing boards and municipal governing bodies in land development matters, zoning appeals, and applications for zoning variances.
He has represented municipalities in litigation matters, drafted municipal ordinances, filed and responded to right-to-know requests, and worked with local historic architectural review bodies.

Capehart Scatchard is set to offer a CLE seminar on Nov. 13 titled “Wealth Strategies: Examining the Tax Cuts and Job Act (Individuals) and Understanding Sustainable Withdrawal Rates in Retirement.”
The CLE is scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. Nov. 13 at Capehart Scatchard, 8000 Midlantic Drive, Suite 300S, Mount Laurel, New Jersey.
It will be presented by Mark J. Evans of RBC Wealth Management.
The presentation will focus on tax reform and retirement income planning.

Driscoll from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr have stepped in to represent Symbotic Inc., an A.I.-enabled technology platform that focuses on increasing supply chain efficiency, and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

Edmund Polubinski and Marie Killmond of Davis Polk & Wardwell have entered appearances for data platform software development company MongoDB and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The suit was filed Sept. 7 in Wisconsin Western District Court by Levine Eisberner LLC and Siri & Glimstad on behalf of a project manager who claims that he was wrongfully terminated after applying for a religious exemption to the defendant's COVID-19 vaccine mandate. The case, assigned to U.S. Magistrate Judge Anita Marie Boor, is 3:24-cv-00630, Secker, Nathan v. Epic Systems Corporation.

David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
