The Villanova University's Charles Widger School of Law Institute to Address Commercial Sexual Exploitation and The David F. and Constance B. Girard-diCarlo Center for Ethics, Integrity and Compliance are set to host a screening of the film “The Trap: The Deadly Sex Trafficking Cycle in American Prisons.”
The documentary resulted from an 18-month-long investigation conducted by The Guardian of how human traffickers use the prison system to recruit and exploit women who have been incarcerated.
The film follows the stories of women caught in the trap of criminal exploitation and incarceration and those trying to stop some of America's most vulnerable women from falling under the control of human traffickers.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion about the practical and ethical questions surrounding this issue.
It is scheduled from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 27 at Villanova University's Charles Widger School of Law.
