Surety Charitable Foundation, a nonprofit organization and part of the Surety Title Co. family of companies, hosted its seventh annual Ladies Night Kick Up Your Heels event Oct. 11 to support breast cancer awareness.
Founded and led by director of business development Diane Ridgway, the event welcomed 135 guests and raised $2,500 for the clinical and research programs at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, a donation double that from prior years.
Alongside special guest Susan Bass Levin, president and CEO of The Cooper Foundation, Ridgway and a room filled with women business professionals from across all industries and the region honored Dr. Generosa Grana, director of MD Anderson Cancer at Cooper.

JAMS announced the addition of Gregory M. Sleet to its panel.
Sleet joined JAMS after serving 20 years on the bench of the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, including seven years as chief judge.
He oversaw a wide range of commercial cases during his tenure on the district court and is known for his expertise in patent litigation.
Sleet will be based in the JAMS Resolution Center in Philadelphia and will serve as a mediator, arbitrator and special master in a wide variety of disputes, including banking, bankruptcy, business/commercial, civil rights, class actions/mass torts, construction, employment, environmental, health care, insurance, intellectual property, maritime, pharmaceutical/mass torts and securities.
Before taking the federal bench in 1998, Sleet gained experience in civil and criminal litigation and corporate legal work. He served as a U.S. attorney for the District of Delaware from 1994 to 1998.
Prior to that, he served as in-house counsel in the legal department of Hercules Inc. and as deputy attorney general for the state of Delaware.

Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young partner Steve Feinour served as a moderator at Nasdaq and the Villanova School of Business Synapse 2018 ETF Academic Summit on Nov. 9 in Philadelphia.
Feinour's panel, “Future Landscape of ETF Research Opportunities,” highlighted how research will have implications in the future of the exchange-traded fund industry in such areas as ESG investing, cryptocurrency and less transparent actively managed ETFs.
Feinour is a partner in Stradley Ronon's investment management group and counsels investment companies and investment advisers in connection with various regulatory, compliance and transactional issues.
He regularly advises clients on matters such as the formation, registration and ongoing regulation of investment companies, including index-based and actively managed ETFs.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The suit was filed Sept. 7 in Wisconsin Western District Court by Levine Eisberner LLC and Siri & Glimstad on behalf of a project manager who claims that he was wrongfully terminated after applying for a religious exemption to the defendant's COVID-19 vaccine mandate. The case, assigned to U.S. Magistrate Judge Anita Marie Boor, is 3:24-cv-00630, Secker, Nathan v. Epic Systems Corporation.

David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
