- From Nov. 27 through Dec. 22, Support Center for Child Advocates (Child Advocates) will kick off their annual Toy Drive with a Headquarters Grand Opening at 1500 Market St. (Centre Square), 1st Floor, Philadelphia, from noon to 5 p.m. The 2018 Toy Drive will culminate on Saturday, Dec. 22, with Toy Drive Delivery Day. Volunteer opportunities include transporting toys and supplies that have been delivered to SCCA office at 1617 JFK Boulevard to the Toy Drive Headquarters at 1500 Market St.; coordinating a personalized or general toy drive among family, friends or colleagues; volunteering at the Toy Drive Headquarters; sponsoring a needy family or teen or purchasing gifts; and delivering toys on Dec. 22. - On Nov. 28, SeniorLAW Center will hold a Wine Tasting & Fundraiser from 6 to 8 p.m. (tasting begins at 6:30 p.m.), at Fox Rothschild, 2000 Market St., Lower Level Lobby, Philadelphia. Proceeds from this event will support SeniorLAW Center's work seeking justice for older people in need, including grandparents raising grandchildren, victims of elder abuse and exploitation, and elders facing eviction and homelessness. - On Nov. 30, the Women's Law Project will host their 2018 Annual Party & Fundraiser, from 5:30-8:30 p.m., at the Academy of Natural Sciences, 1900 Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia. - On Dec 6, the Philadelphia Bar Association's delivery of legal services committee of the public interest section will present the 2018 Public Interest Law Day CLE Program at Duane Morris, 30 South 17th St., Philadelphia, from 9:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. (registration begins at 9:15 a.m.). Experienced panelists will present a wide array of hot topics in public interest law for public interest attorneys, pro bono practitioners, judges and private practice attorneys who are interested in learning more about cutting edge issues affecting the public interest legal community. Join your colleagues and earn six CLE credits (substantive and ethics credits available depending upon sessions attended). - On Dec. 6, the Philadelphia Bar Association's Public Interest Section will hold its Annual Awards Ceremony & Celebration at the Thomas Kline Institute of Trial Advocacy at Drexel University, 3320 Market St, Philadelphia, at 5:30 p.m. The awards ceremony will feature the presentation of the Honorable Louis H. Pollak and the Bending the ARC Awards; the selection of the Higginbotham Fellowship; and the presentation of the 2018 Law Student Awards. - On Dec. 10, the Support Center for Child Advocates will present a training program, “The Impact of Addiction on Parents and Children: Pathways to Family-Centered Treatment,” from 2 to 4 p.m., at The Friends Center, 1501 Cherry St, Philadelphia. This session will provide a brief overview of the science of addiction and the potential impact of addiction on parent-child relationships. Presenters will identify current pathways to treatment from screening and recommendations made by the Family Court Clinical Evaluation Unit to the process by which Community Behavioral Health approves treatment recommendations. This session will also examine emerging practices to support child-parent relationships and inform advocacy strategies for parents with substance use disorders. The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The case is 1:24-cv-07594, Roy v. Ittycheria et al.

The suit was filed Sept. 7 in Wisconsin Western District Court by Levine Eisberner LLC and Siri & Glimstad on behalf of a project manager who claims that he was wrongfully terminated after applying for a religious exemption to the defendant's COVID-19 vaccine mandate. The case, assigned to U.S. Magistrate Judge Anita Marie Boor, is 3:24-cv-00630, Secker, Nathan v. Epic Systems Corporation.

David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
