Elected and Appointed

Dana A. Gittleman, an associate in the Philadelphia office of Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin, was selected to serve as the 2019 board observer for the Support Center for Child Advocates as part of the Philadelphia Bar Foundation's Board Observer program.

The Board Observer program is a partnership between the Philadelphia Bar Foundation and the Philadelphia Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division.

In her placement with the SCCA, Gittleman will attend board meetings, fundraisers and observe other events and activities of the organization.

Gittleman, a member of Marshall Dennehey's professional liability department, focuses her practice on the defense of claims and lawsuits brought against insurance agents and brokers, real estate professionals, financial entities, construction companies, large product manufacturers, lenders and other professionals.

She also has experience litigating insurance coverage and bad-faith claims, including providing coverage analysis.

Monica M. Littman, attorney with Fineman Krekstein & Harris in Philadelphia, was elected to the board of directors of the Mid-Atlantic Collectors Association, the regional affiliate of ACA International.

Littman is an associate in the firm's litigation group representing clients in matters involving consumer financial services as well as representing community associations.

She also has experience with employment-related matters, specifically the litigation of post-employment restrictive covenants, trade secrets and employment agreements.

She has counseled clients on enterprise-wide personnel and business initiatives and has experience litigating matters in the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority Dispute Resolution forum.

Events

The University of Pennsylvania Law School's Center for Technology, Innovation and Competition and Leo Model Foundation is set to present “Hot Topics in Antitrust.”

The panel discussion on emerging issues in the area of antitrust is scheduled from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Dec. 5 at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, 3501 Samson St., Silverman Hall 240A, Philadelphia.

Topics will include the U.S. Supreme Court's recent Ohio v. American Express decision and its implications for the platform economy, the Justice Department's ongoing challenge to the AT&T/Time Warner Merger, and the Federal Trade Commission's ongoing Hearings on Competition and Consumer Protection in the 21st Century.

Panelists include Herbert Hovenkamp, James G. Dinan University Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, and Joshua Wright, Distinguished Policy Fellow at the law school's Leo Model Foundation Government and Public Affairs Initiative and former FTC commissioner.

Christopher S. Yoo, professor and founding director of the Center for Technology, Innovation and Competition, is set to be the moderator.

The Nov. 14 event featured keynote speaker Jonathan Epstein, chief scientific officer at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.

Epstein was set to talk about “Daring to Doubt Darwin: Discoveries of the 21st Century.”
