Robert R. Watson Jr., a shareholder at Eastburn and Gray, is set to serve as a co-panelist at a seminar at the Pennsylvania Bar Institute's 2018 Real Estate Institute.

The event is scheduled for Thursday and Friday at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.

Watson's seminar is titled “Payment Bonds, the Prompt Payment Acts and Limiting and Responding to Lien Claims: Practical Responses to Contractors' Favorite Weapons.”

The seminar will help those involved to understand the process of construction payment protections from the tradesperson's perspective and can help an owner limit or avoid being wrapped into payment disputes as a job winds ahead.

Watson is part of the firm's construction law practice group.

He has nearly 20 years of experience representing clients from all aspects of the construction industry.

His experience includes work with large and small contractors, subcontractors and suppliers, municipalities, municipal authorities, developers, public utilities, school districts and individual owners.

Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young partner Michael J. Engle served as a course planner and moderator at the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers' White Collar Practice Seminar on Nov. 15 and 16 in Philadelphia.

Engle's panel, “Cryptocurrencies & ICOs: Navigating the Regulatory Landscape and Responding to Government Investigations,” focused on the positions and enforcement actions of a variety of regulatory authorities on cryptocurrencies and ICOs.

Engle is a member of Stradley Ronon's education practice group and the chair of the firm's white-collar defense group.

He has more than 15 years of experience in federal criminal cases, complex white-collar defense matters and internal or parallel investigations on behalf of corporations and other entities.

He has represented white-collar defendants in complex, high-stakes federal and state prosecutions and has guided corporations and other organizations through the intricacies of government investigations.

Cozen O'Connor announced that Thea Parent joined its real estate practice group in the Philadelphia office.

With 15 years of real estate experience, Parent concentrates her practice on commercial real estate, hospitality law and joint ventures.

She handles a diverse array of matters related to the acquisition, disposition, development and construction of real estate and resort projects; the structuring or refinancing of debt and credit facilities; business joint ventures and strategic alliances; and commercial leasing.

She also represents hospitality companies, management companies and non-profit organizations in general business matters.

Parent was most recently at Hersha Hospitality Trust and Hersha Hospitality Management.
