Robert R. Watson Jr., a shareholder at Eastburn and Gray, is set to serve as a co-panelist at a seminar at the Pennsylvania Bar Institute's 2018 Real Estate Institute.
The event is scheduled for Thursday and Friday at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.
Watson's seminar is titled “Payment Bonds, the Prompt Payment Acts and Limiting and Responding to Lien Claims: Practical Responses to Contractors' Favorite Weapons.”
The seminar will help those involved to understand the process of construction payment protections from the tradesperson's perspective and can help an owner limit or avoid being wrapped into payment disputes as a job winds ahead.
Watson is part of the firm's construction law practice group.
He has nearly 20 years of experience representing clients from all aspects of the construction industry.
His experience includes work with large and small contractors, subcontractors and suppliers, municipalities, municipal authorities, developers, public utilities, school districts and individual owners.

Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young partner Michael J. Engle served as a course planner and moderator at the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers' White Collar Practice Seminar on Nov. 15 and 16 in Philadelphia.
Engle's panel, “Cryptocurrencies & ICOs: Navigating the Regulatory Landscape and Responding to Government Investigations,” focused on the positions and enforcement actions of a variety of regulatory authorities on cryptocurrencies and ICOs.
Engle is a member of Stradley Ronon's education practice group and the chair of the firm's white-collar defense group.
He has more than 15 years of experience in federal criminal cases, complex white-collar defense matters and internal or parallel investigations on behalf of corporations and other entities.
He has represented white-collar defendants in complex, high-stakes federal and state prosecutions and has guided corporations and other organizations through the intricacies of government investigations.

With 15 years of real estate experience, Parent concentrates her practice on commercial real estate, hospitality law and joint ventures.

Driscoll from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr have stepped in to represent Symbotic Inc., an A.I.-enabled technology platform that focuses on increasing supply chain efficiency, and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

Edmund Polubinski and Marie Killmond of Davis Polk & Wardwell have entered appearances for data platform software development company MongoDB and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
