The Pennsylvania Bar Association Judicial Evaluation Commission, the body responsible for evaluating the qualifications of appellate court candidates in Pennsylvania, is scheduled to hold interviews Jan. 21-22 for any individuals considering filing as judicial candidates for the open seat on the Pennsylvania Superior Court in the May 2019 primary election.

If needed, interviews will also be held Jan. 23-24. All interviews will be held at PBA headquarters in Harrisburg. There will not be additional interviews beyond the stated dates.

In order to be considered for an interview, candidates should obtain a copy of the judicial evaluation questionnaire and a copy of the commission's guidelines and bylaws. To receive these materials, contact Louann Bell at the PBA Judicial Evaluation Commission at 800-932-0311, ext. 2276; or [email protected].

In order to ensure that each candidate receives a full and fair evaluation, the completed questionnaire should be returned by Dec. 14 to the PBA Judicial Evaluation Commission: P.O. Box 186, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, 17108.

Ratings will be announced after the evaluation sessions have been completed. Under the commission's guidelines, any candidate who does not participate in the evaluation process will receive a “Not Recommended” rating.
