Honored
Philadelphia labor, employment and workers' compensation firm Willig, Williams & Davidson attorney Ryan Allen Hancock received the Philadelphia Bar Association's PNC Wealth Management Achievement Award, which honors significant accomplishments in improving the administration of justice.
Hancock was recognized for his dedication to helping low-income Philadelphians overcome past criminal convictions through pro bono litigation. In 2009, he joined two other Philadelphia-based civil rights attorneys to create Philadelphia Lawyers for Social Equity, which helps Philadelphians expunge criminal records that can hinder them from attaining employment, housing and other benefits for which they otherwise are qualified.
Speakers
Steven L. Sugarman, founding principal of the Berwyn law firm Steven L. Sugarman & Associates, was a featured speaker at the Pennsylvania Bar Institute's 22nd Annual Real Estate Institute. Sugarman presented on recent decisional and statutory law affecting condominium and homeowner associations throughout Pennsylvania in the course titled, “Annual Condo/HOA Case Law and Legislative Update.”
Sugarman is set to speak next at the Community Association Institute's 40th Annual Law Seminar held from Jan. 23 to 26 in New Orleans.
A member of the College of Community Association Lawyers, Sugarman also serves as an adjunct professor at Villanova University's Charles Widger School of Law where he developed and teaches the course, “Condominium and Homeowner Association Law.”
Elected and Appointed
On Dec. 12, 2018, James W. Cushing was invited onto the executive committee of the family section of the Philadelphia Bar Association.
Cushing is senior associate at the Law Office of Faye Riva Cohen and research attorney with Legal Research Inc.
Cushing's practice focuses on family, unemployment compensation, contracts and landlord/tenant.
His family practice consists of cases of divorce, child support, child custody, protection from abuse, adoption and related issues.

J. Brugh Lower of Gibbons has entered an appearance for industrial equipment supplier Devco Corporation in a pending trademark infringement lawsuit. The suit, accusing the defendant of selling knock-off Graco products, was filed Dec. 18 in New Jersey District Court by Rivkin Radler on behalf of Graco Inc. and Graco Minnesota. The court action, filed Nov. 25 in Michigan Eastern District Court by Hooper Hathaway PC on behalf of The Town Residences LLC, accuses Crown Castle of failing to transfer approximately $30,000 in utility payments from T-Mobile in breach of a roof-top lease and assignment agreement.
