Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr announced that Jennifer L. Beidel returned to the firm as a partner in the white-collar and government litigation practice following a four-year stint in the U.S. Attorney's Office in the Southern District of New York.
Beidel is resident again in the Philadelphia office.
Beidel is a trial lawyer and former federal prosecutor who represents organizations and individuals in white-collar criminal defense cases, internal investigations, corporate compliance matters and complex commercial disputes.
She assists clients facing criminal and civil allegations of fraud and other misconduct in the health care, life sciences, food and agriculture and financial services industries, among others.
Beidel was an assistant U.S. attorney in the complex frauds and cybercrime unit, and will handle work within Saul Ewing's cybersecurity and privacy practice.
During her years as a prosecutor, she led investigations and prosecutions in a variety of areas, including tax fraud, health care fraud, cybercrime, bank and wire fraud, securities fraud, consumer fraud and money laundering. She also worked closely with numerous federal agencies and the governments of various foreign partners.
Beidel earned her J.D. from Penn State The Dickinson School of Law.

Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin announced that 13 associates and two special counsel were elevated to shareholder. Additionally, the firm promoted four associates to the position of special counsel.
Five of the new shareholders and one of the new special counsel are based in the Philadelphia area.
The new shareholders are Mohamed N. Bakry, Nicholas D. Bowers and Sang Woo Lee in the casualty department; Raphael M. Duran in the workers' compensation department; and Daniel H. Tran in the health care department.
The new special counsel is Heather A. Tereshko in the health care department.
Bakry, Bowers, Woo Lee, Duran and Tran are all based out of Marshall Dennehey's Philadelphia office.
Tereshko is based out of King of Prussia.

Jennifer Zegel, a Kleinbard partner and practice leader of the estates and trusts group, presented at the Upstreme 2019 Blockchain Summit—Beyond the Fog of Crypto-Currencies.
Zegel's presentation, “Legal Considerations of Blockchain Technology,” covered the general legal considerations and challenges that arise when a business is considering implementing blockchain technology.
In addition, she explored the use of public, private and consortium blockchains, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each type.
The Upstreme 2019 Blockchain Summit was Feb. 7 at the Radisson Hotel Valley Forge.
Zegel focuses her practice on the representation of clients in the areas of trusts and estates, business law and real estate. She also frequently counsels her clients on business succession planning.
Zegel specifically focuses in estate planning and the estate administration of digital assets. She works in the section of property transfers, which also overlaps and intersects with technology, privacy and accessibility considerations. Zegel advises clients on how to incorporate digital asset planning into an estate plan or business succession plan.

The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
