Elected and Appointed
Butler Buchanan III, Philadelphia office managing attorney, hiring attorney and diversity committee chair of Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin's Philadelphia office was appointed to two Philadelphia Bar Association positions and one position on the disciplinary board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.
At the Philadelphia Bar Association, Buchanan was appointed co-chair of the large law firm management committee.
Buchanan was a member of the committee since 2013.
The chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association also re-appointed Buchanan to his third term as the Philadelphia Bar Association's representative to the American Bar Association's House of Delegates.
Additionally, Buchanan was appointed to a three-year term as a District 1 senior hearing committee member for the disciplinary board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. He previously served as a hearing officer on the board from 2005 to 2011.
Buchanan joined Marshall Dennehey in 1999, practicing in insurance coverage, commercial litigation and various other professional liability and general liability matters.
He was promoted to hiring attorney in 2003, to lead the diversity committee in 2009, and to managing attorney of the Philadelphia office in 2015.
During his tenure with the firm, he also served two terms on Marshall Dennehey's board of directors.

Martin Law partner Al Carlson is scheduled to present case law updates at the Tough Problems in Workers' Compensation CLE in Philadelphia on April 9 and again in Mechanicsburg on April 18.
Carlson practices exclusively in the area of workers' compensation law. He is a frequent guest lecturer at Villanova University's Charles Widger School of Law in the area of Pennsylvania workers' compensation.
He published numerous articles on the subject of social media in workers' compensation litigation.
He served as a co-chair in 2008 for the Philadelphia Bar Association's workers' compensation section and served as the legislative liaison.
He was elected to the board of directors for the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association in June 2010 and currently serves on the nominating committee.

James W. Cushing and Brian M. Doyle are set to speak at a National Business Institute seminar titled “Human Resource Law from A to Z” to be held at the Courtyard by Marriott in Philadelphia on April 9.
Cushing is senior associate at The Law Office of Faye Riva Cohen and managing attorney for Legal Research Inc. and sits on the executive committee of the family section of the Philadelphia Bar Association. He practices family law, unemployment compensation, real estate and contract law.
Doyle is also an associate at The Law Office of Faye Riva Cohen and practices employment, labor, civil rights and discrimination law.

The Institute to Address Commercial Sexual Exploitation is slated to present cross-disciplinary workshops and discussions aimed at engaging the survivor community to end gender-based violence.
Workshops are set to be led by survivors to encourage participants to engage in problem-solving scenarios on a variety of relevant topics and current issues in legislation, law enforcement and education.
This event is scheduled to be held at the Inn at Villanova from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. April 11 and 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. April 12.
It is open to the Villanova community and the public and is approved by the Pennsylvania Continuing Legal Education board for 9 substantive credits and approved by The Municipal Police Officers' Education and Training Commission for 12 continuing law enforcement education credits.
A networking reception and awards ceremony, hosted by Jennifer Storm, victim advocate for the commonwealth, is set to immediately follow the April 11 workshops at the Inn at Villanova featuring remarks from Anne Ream, founder of The Voices and Faces Project.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
