Barley Snyder partner David J. Freedman was named the vice president of the board of directors at the Lancaster Bar Association. This is his second time as vice president of the association.
Freedman is a member of the Barley Snyder employment practice group, as well as the employment litigation, immigration and education groups. He also is part of the firm's hospitality and food and agribusiness industry groups. He is a member of the advisory board at Church World Service Lancaster, a refugee resettlement and advocacy agency.

McNees Wallace & Nurick announced the addition of labor and employment attorney Anne Zerbe.
Zerbe joins the McNees labor and employment practice group as a member and will initially work out of the firm's Lancaster office.
Zerbe focuses her practice on prevention of employment liability, defending against employment claims, and assisting clients with compliance issues concerning the multitude of employment laws and regulations governing employers. She counsels employers, practice groups and health care providers on employment law compliance, risk management and HIPAA compliance.
She also serves as special counsel for investigations and handles executive terminations. She is a certified senior professional in human resources and was a featured speaker regarding employment law topics for various organizations.

Meyer, Unkovic & Scott was presented with the Boy Scouts' Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award at the Boy Scouts of America Laurel Highlands Council's annual dinner in Pittsburgh.
The firm was recognized for its support of Scoutreach, the urban and low-income scouting program of the Boy Scouts of America, which provides opportunities for youth who may not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in scouting activities.
The award is named in honor of Whitney M. Young Jr., civil rights leader and former executive director of the National Urban League.

Cummins of Scranton firm Foley, Comerford & Cummins and Paul Oven of Moosic firm Dougherty Leventhal & Price presented “The Law Is Like a Box of Chocolates: A Forrest Gump Themed 2018 Civil Litigation Update” as a Lunch and Learn CLE event for the Lackawanna Bar Association. The presentation included clips from the movie “Forrest Gump” while reviewing important cases and trends in Pennsylvania civil litigation matters over the past year or so.
Cummins focuses his insurance defense practice on defending motor vehicle accident liability cases and UIM/UM arbitration matters along with premises liability and products liability cases. He is also the writer of the Tort Talk blog and serves as a mediator in civil litigation matters through Cummins Mediation Services.
Oven focuses his plaintiffs personal injury practice on complex civil litigation. Oven is also regularly retained to serve as a mediator and an arbitrator to assist parties in concluding their personal injury litigation matters.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

Edmund Polubinski and Marie Killmond of Davis Polk & Wardwell have entered appearances for data platform software development company MongoDB and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The case is 1:24-cv-07594, Roy v. Ittycheria et al.

The suit was filed Sept. 7 in Wisconsin Western District Court by Levine Eisberner LLC and Siri & Glimstad on behalf of a project manager who claims that he was wrongfully terminated after applying for a religious exemption to the defendant's COVID-19 vaccine mandate. David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
