Elected and Appointed

A Philadelphia-based corporate attorney at McCarter & English was promoted to partner, the firm announced.

Philip Amoa is one of five McCarter attorneys firmwide to be elevated to the partnership. Amoa focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and private equity, Delaware corporate governance issues and other corporate and commercial matters.

He represents early stage, emerging growth and middle-market companies as well as the investors, executives and boards of directors who support and lead them.

Amoa is a member of the firm's Delaware corporate and alternative entity law group.

He also has experience in the organization and structuring of all forms of Delaware business entities, including providing third-party legal opinions.

As part of his Delaware law practice, he counsels clients on governance issues, including fiduciary duties, risk oversight, conflicts of interest, board and committee structure, and special committee investigations.

Amoa is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors and earned the designation of NACD governance fellow.

He serves on the board of directors of the Board of Pensions of the Presbyterian Church, the corporate entity established to manage about $10 billion in assets for its pension plan.

Lamb McErlane announced that partner Helen H. Mountain was elected to the board of directors of UPTOWN! Entertainment Alliance.

UPTOWN! Entertainment Alliance operates the Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center as a home for live performance, film, education and other events in West Chester.

At Lamb McErlane Mountain concentrates her practice on representing companies in corporate and business law counseling, as well as corporate and financing transactions.

She handles complex corporate transactions, including mergers, stock acquisitions, asset sales, recapitalizations and reorganizations.

Mountain also has extensive experience in real estate and development matters.

Mountain is the immediate-past president of Villanova Law Alumni Association board of advisers, is assistant treasurer of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Pennsylvania, a committee member for the March of Dimes Chester County Salute to Women of Achievement and is co-chair of the Chester County Bar Association's diversity committee.

Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis is set to sponsor and host the International Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution Regional Meeting in Philadelphia at 2 p.m. April 30.

The theme of the meeting is “The Secrets Behind Successful Dispute Resolution: Decision-Making & Navigating Relationships for Clients, Counsel & Neutrals.” Event details and registration are online.

This “VIP CLE networking event” offers 2.5 CLE credits and features former professional poker player, decision strategist and author Annie Duke, as well as inside and outside counsel, neutrals and academics discussing how clients, counsel and neutrals can better navigate decision-making and relationships to successfully resolve disputes.

The program will be followed by a networking cocktail reception.

Schnader attorneys presenting at the event are set to include three members of Schnader's alternative dispute resolution practice group: Timothy K. Lewis, co-chair of Schnader's ADR practice group and co-chair of CPR's diversity task force; Dennis R. Suplee, former chairman of Schnader; Ralph G. Wellington, co-chair of Schnader's ADR practice group and former chairman of Schnader.

Kate Rigaut is scheduled to present a seminar on the global impact of intellectual property at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in honor of World IP Day on April 26 and is also scheduled to speak at the Joint Patent Practice Seminar in New York City on May 2.

Rigaut recently joined the intellectual property firm of Howson & Howson as a lateral partner.

Rigaut joins partners Mary Bak, Cathy Kodroff and Colleen Schaller in the life sciences group.
