The U.S. Senate has confirmed the appointment of Joshua Wolson, a partner at Dilworth Paxson, to a seat on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

The 65-33 vote came late Thursday morning, nearly one year after President Donald Trump nominated him for the position.

Wolson is a partner at Philadelphia-based Dilworth Paxson, where he has worked since 2008. He became a partner there in 2010. Before that, he was an associate at Covington & Burling in Washington, D.C., and previously clerked with U.S. District Senior Judge Jan E. DuBois, also of the Eastern District.

According to his online bio, Wolson worked as a litigator, with a focus on representing a range of companies in contract disputes, class actions, business tort cases and other types of commercial litigation.

Wolson has received bipartisan support from Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pennsylvania, and Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pennsylvania. Following the announcement of his nomination, both senators cited his experience as a litigator.

“I am pleased President Trump will nominate Josh Wolson to serve as a federal judge in Pennsylvania's Eastern District,” Toomey said. “Mr. Wolson's credentials will undoubtedly serve him well on the bench. Since 2000, Mr. Wolson has worked as a litigator in private practice and he currently serves as a partner at Dilworth Paxson LLP in Philadelphia. I am confident that Mr. Wolson will serve the Eastern District with integrity and fairness.”

“Josh Wolson is an experienced attorney with deep ties to the Philadelphia legal community,” Casey said. ”I'm glad the administration has worked with Senator Toomey and me to fill another district court seat in Pennsylvania, and I am thankful for Mr. Wolson's willingness to serve the people of Pennsylvania on the federal bench.”

Wolson also appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee in July, and gave financial disclosures. According to the disclosure, he brought in $233,300 from Dilworth Paxson in 2017. His 2016 pay was about $313,300 and by mid-2018 he brought home about $61,900. He reported a net worth of $2.69 million.
