Announcements
Feldman Shepherd Wohlgelernter Tanner Weinstock Dodig announced that it, along with Saltz Mongeluzzi Barrett & Bendesky and Duffy & Partners, donated funds to Vetri Community Partnership for the purchase of a mobile teaching kitchen.
The donation is made to honor the victims of a July 1, 2014, food truck explosion that occurred in the Feltonville section of Philadelphia.
The owner of the food truck and her daughter both died from injuries sustained when a propane cylinder on the food truck exploded. Several other people in the truck's vicinity were severely injured.
Feldman Shepherd attorneys represented the food truck owner's family.
The combined donation of the three law firms will be used by Vetri Community Partnership to purchase a third mobile teaching kitchen, which is a modified food truck carrying supplies needed to teach pop-up cooking classes and conduct demonstrations at schools, community events and farmers markets.
Vetri Community Partnership is a nonprofit organization founded in 2008 by chef Marc Vetri and restaurateur Jeff Benjamin.
Vetri uses mobile teaching kitchens to teach kids and adults how to cook and to provide them with positive experiences around healthy food that inspire them to make better-informed food choices and, in the process, reduce the chances of nutrition-related diseases, such as obesity, diabetes and heart disease.
