Reed Smith is opening an office in Dallas this month, bringing on lateral hires from firms including Bracewell and Perkins Coie.

Bracewell confirmed that finance partners Al Kyle and trial partner Brian Mitchell are moving to Reed Smith.

And a spokesman for Perkins Coie confirmed that four partners, including corporate securities lawyer Bobby Majumder, and three associates are leaving to join Reed Smith. The firm said the group has been working on Majumder's team.

Reed Smith, which also has offices in Houston and Austin, declined comment.

Majumder had been managing partner of Perkins Coie's Dallas office, and the firm announced Wednesday that Dean Harvey, who is co-chair of the artificial intelligence, machine learning and robotics practice, is the new Dallas managing partner.

Despite the departures, Perkins Coie will maintain a “strong core of lawyers” in Dallas, providing legal services in a broad range of areas including corporate transactions and licensing, litigation, labor and employment, bankruptcy and real estate, the firm's managing partner, John Devaney, said in a written statement.

“Since entering the Dallas market nine years ago, Perkins Coie has seen growth in client demand for our services and particularly in those practices focusing on our core strength in technology. We're excited about the future, the exceptional talent on our Dallas team, and the appointment of partner Dean Harvey to lead our team as Dallas managing partner,” he wrote.

Reed Smith moved into Texas in 2013 when it opened an office in Houston, and expanded its reach last year by launching an office in Austin.
