Neil Andrew Stein, co-founder and principal of Kaplin Stewart in Blue Bell and Cherry Hill, New Jersey, recently completed two speaking engagements.
Stein represents real estate owners and developers in land use, transactional, financing and real estate litigation matters.
Stein participated as a moderator and speaker at the 2nd annual Philadelphia Office and Industrial Development Conference, presented by the Mid Atlantic Real Estate Journal.
The conference brings together commercial real estate professionals to discuss current trends in the commercial real estate market.
Stein was also a speaker at the Advanced Real Estate Transactions Seminar, presented by the National Business Institute.

The Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers announced several award recipients at its 2019 Joint Annual Conference.
Justin C. Danilewitz and Christopher R. Hall of Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr in Philadelphia received the 2019 Alan Jay Josel Advocacy Award.
Andrew Christy of the American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania received the 2019 Liberty Award for his work in litigating and providing training on challenges to the imposition of fines and costs on the indigent.
The 2019 Charles P. Gelso President's Award was presented to Ellen C. Brotman for her leadership with the Philadelphia chapter of PACDL.
President's and Directors' Commendations were awarded to Laurel Gift of Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis in Pittsburgh and Petra K. Gross of Martson Law Offices in Carlisle for their efforts to invigorate the PACDL Advocacy Committee.
Additionally, Jed Silversmith of Blank Rome received a President's and Directors' Commendation for his leadership and work as a member of the editorial board of PACDL's For The Defense.

Kaitlin M. Gurney, a litigator who practices both media law and white-collar criminal defense, joined Ballard Spahr.
Gurney defends media and entertainment companies in lawsuits alleging defamation and invasion of privacy, and she represents newsrooms in securing access to public records, documents and court proceedings.
She also advises clients on prepublication issues.
Gurney is a former reporter and worked for several publications.
Gurney advises clients during government investigations and defends them in litigation involving claims of fraud and abuse, particularly the False Claims Act.
She will be a member of Ballard Spahr's white-collar defense/internal investigations practice as well as its media and entertainment law group.

Driscoll from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr have stepped in to represent Symbotic Inc., an A.I.-enabled technology platform that focuses on increasing supply chain efficiency, and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

Edmund Polubinski and Marie Killmond of Davis Polk & Wardwell have entered appearances for data platform software development company MongoDB and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
