Bernard W. Smalley Sr. of Raynes Lawn Hehmeyer spoke about litigation at the Pennsylvania Bar Institute program “Everything You Need to Know About Pre-Trial Practice in Philadelphia” at the CLE Conference Center in Philadelphia.
The program covered such topics as navigating the intricacies of discovery court, effective case management, Judge Pro Tempore conferences and pretrial tactics and tips.
Attendees also participated in a mock discovery court.
Smalley practices law in the Philadelphia community and beyond.
He focuses his practice on medical malpractice, products liability, accidents at work and construction accidents.
He is a fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers and the American College of Trial Lawyers.
He served as president of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association and received its Justice Michael A. Musmanno Award.
He also received the President's Award from the Barristers' Association of Philadelphia; the Soaring Eagle Award from the Minority Caucus of the American Association of Justice; the Pursuit of Justice Award from the American Bar Association; and the Justice Thurgood Marshall Award of Excellence.

Elizabeth Fineman, partner and family law attorney at Antheil Maslow & MacMinn in Doylestown, is scheduled to speak on “Drug & Alcohol Issues As They Apply to Custody & Support” at the Bucks County Bar Association's family law section continuing legal education seminar May 28.
Fineman is set to present along with Judge James J. McMaster of the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas; Reb Brooks, with Affiliates in Psychology; and Kevin L. Hand with Kardos, Rickles & Hand.
Fineman practices exclusively in family law with experience in complex high-net-worth individuals with complex assets and tax valuation issues.

Steve Reynolds, a former director at Gibbons who recently retired as executive vice president, general counsel and secretary of Aramark and previously served as senior vice president and general counsel at Alcatel-Lucent, rejoined the firm as a director in its commercial and criminal litigation department.
Reynolds is also a former vice president of litigation at Aventis and Sanofi-Aventis.
After serving as global general counsel at two Fortune 200 companies since 2005, Reynolds returns to Gibbons, where he spent 16 years as a commercial and corporate litigator, with in-house experience from his work at companies in the pharmaceutical, technology and services industries.
At Gibbons, Reynolds will utilize his background as a public company general counsel to assist clients in dealing with their management of complex litigation, regulatory, corporate governance and compliance matters.

Daniel Dixon joined Kaplin Stewart as a principal and a member of the commercial litigation and tax law departments.
Before joining the firm, Dixon was of counsel at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in Philadelphia.
His practice focuses on providing tax counsel and advocacy to fortune 500 companies and beyond.
He has resolved, through both litigation and settlement, state tax matters before administrative appeal boards, tax tribunals and courts in more than 25 states, with a particular focus on Pennsylvania, New Jersey and California.

J. Brugh Lower of Gibbons has entered an appearance for industrial equipment supplier Devco Corporation in a pending trademark infringement lawsuit. The suit, accusing the defendant of selling knock-off Graco products, was filed Dec. 18 in New Jersey District Court by Rivkin Radler on behalf of Graco Inc. and Graco Minnesota. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Zahid N. Quraishi, is 3:24-cv-11294, Graco Inc. et al v. Devco Corporation.

Yalowitz of Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer have entered their appearances for Hanaco Venture Capital and its executives, Lior Prosor and David Frankel, in a pending securities lawsuit. The action, filed on Dec. 24 in New York Southern District Court by Zell, Aron & Co. on behalf of Goldeneye Advisors, accuses the defendants of negligently and fraudulently managing the plaintiff's $1 million investment. Attorneys from A&O Shearman has stepped in as defense counsel for Toronto-Dominion Bank and other defendants in a pending securities class action. The suit, filed Dec. 11 in New York Southern District Court by Bleichmar Fonti & Auld, accuses the defendants of concealing the bank's 'pervasive' deficiencies in regards to its compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and the quality of its anti-money laundering controls. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian, is 1:24-cv-09445, Gonzalez v. The Toronto-Dominion Bank et al.

Crown Castle International, a Pennsylvania company providing shared communications infrastructure, has turned to Luke D. Wolf of Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani to fend off a pending breach-of-contract lawsuit. The court action, filed Nov. 25 in Michigan Eastern District Court by Hooper Hathaway PC on behalf of The Town Residences LLC, accuses Crown Castle of failing to transfer approximately $30,000 in utility payments from T-Mobile in breach of a roof-top lease and assignment agreement. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Susan K. Declercq, is 2:24-cv-13131, The Town Residences LLC v. T-Mobile US, Inc. et al.

Wilfred P. Coronato and Daniel M. Schwartz of McCarter & English have stepped in as defense counsel to Electrolux Home Products Inc. in a pending product liability lawsuit. The court action, filed Nov. 26 in New York Eastern District Court by Poulos Lopiccolo PC and Nagel Rice LLP on behalf of David Stern, alleges that the defendant's refrigerators’ drawers and shelving repeatedly break and fall apart within months after purchase.
