Wisler Pearlstine announced that partner Mary J. Pedersen was inducted into the Penn Athletics Hall of Fame Class of XI.
To be eligible for consideration into the Penn Athletics Hall of Fame as a student-athlete, a candidate must have graduated from the university or been a member of the General Alumni Society of Penn and earned his or her last letter at least 10 years ago.
Candidates are selected based on accomplishments during their undergraduate days at the University of Pennsylvania.
Pedersen represents individuals and businesses in various commercial litigation and employment matters.
Her practice is focused on the representation of individuals and businesses in the state and federal courts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania in matters including business disputes, internal partnership/shareholder disputes, defense of employment discrimination claims, defense of educational institutions in premises liability matters, contract disputes, business torts and workplace discrimination and harassment.
She is a member of the Pennsylvania and Montgomery bar associations.

Howard Shecter, senior mergers and acquisitions counsel in Holland & Knight's Philadelphia and New York offices, received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor at a gala ceremony at the Ellis Island Museum.
The Ellis Island Medals of Honor are presented annually by the Ellis Island Honors Society to a select group of individuals in recognition of their accomplishments in their fields and service to the nation.
Shecter is a former chairman and managing partner of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius.
He has a background advising clients on corporate governance and board oversight matters.
He also served as a board member for both public and private companies.
Currently, he is chairman of the board of Venerable Insurance and Annuity Company, a portfolio company of Apollo Global Management.
Shecter served for 10 years as a trustee on the board of Community Legal Services, a federally funded program to provide legal services to indigent families in inner cities, and was a director of the Urban Affairs Coalition, which promotes African American business enterprises.
In addition, Shecter devoted time to providing free legal services to first- and second-generation immigrants to help them navigate challenges from the American legal system and more affluent adversaries.
He also has supported several medical causes, including leading fundraising efforts for Alzheimer's research and serving on the board of the University of Pennsylvania Institute on Aging.
He also served on the board of and raised funds for the Pennsylvania Arthritis Foundation, where he worked closely on the national level with Betty Ford, the wife of former President Gerald Ford.

The Philadelphia Bar Association's LegalLine is scheduled to offer free legal advice to residents of Philadelphia and the surrounding counties from 5 to 8 p.m. June 19.
Members of the public can access LegalLine by calling 215-238-6333.
Area residents seeking confidential legal advice will be able to speak for free with a volunteer attorney from the Philadelphia Bar Association.
Free legal advice will be available on family law, landlord-tenant, workers' compensation, employment law and more.
In addition, the Philadelphia Bar Association's Lawyer Referral and Information Service is available 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the above number to provide lawyer referrals to area residents.
Staff attorneys take calls from the public and refer callers to attorneys in private practice for a 30-minute consultation, for which the attorney agrees to charge $35.
If callers do not need an attorney or cannot afford one, they will be directed to a legal service organization, agency or other resource for assistance.
LegalLine is a public service sponsored by the Philadelphia Bar Association's young lawyers division, providing residents with free, quick and accurate legal advice during convenient evening hours.
LegalLine is offered typically on the third Wednesday of every month from 5 to 8 p.m.

Driscoll from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr have stepped in to represent Symbotic Inc., an A.I.-enabled technology platform that focuses on increasing supply chain efficiency, and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
