Judy Stein Judy Stein, trust counsel at The Haverford Trust Co.

A Radnor-based private wealth management firm announced Wednesday the hiring of an experienced financial attorney to lead its legal function.

Judith Stein was made trust counsel of The Haverford Trust Co. A spokesperson for the company said trust counsel is the equivalent to a general counsel role. It is not clear whom she replaced or why that person left. She started her role at the company earlier this month, according to the spokesperson. Stein reports to John Niles, vice president of trust and estate administration.

In her role, Stein oversees all legal aspects at The Haverford Trust Co. and advises senior management on fiduciary risk and legal matters. Stein said in the press release that she is excited to be on the team at The Haverford Trust Co.

“It's rewarding being part of a firm whose size, consistency, investment philosophy, service to clients and widely recognized brand make it a front runner in the industry,” Stein said in the press release.

Stein was not immediately available for additional comment.

Before joining The Haverford Trust Co., Stein worked as senior managing counsel and managing director for BNY Mellon in Philadelphia. Stein graduated from the Suffolk University Law School, according to the press release.

Joseph J. McLaughlin Jr., chairman and CEO of The Haverford Trust Co., said in the press release Stein's background in trust, estate, tax and fiduciary arenas makes her a perfect fit for the role.

“Bringing Judy on as trust counsel was an easy decision for us, as her banking, legal and trust experience will help us deepen our trust offering,” McLaughlin said.
