For the third year in a row, Charny, Karpousis, Altieri & Donoian partner Karen Rose Karpousis was set to volunteer as a judge at this year's William Allen Middle School 8th Grade Exit Assessment.
She joined a group of professionals and peers in evaluating student presentations, providing feedback to the students on their communication skills and to the school on its goal of preparing its students to be global community citizens.
According to the school committee, each year 8th grade students at WAMS are divided into groups and tasked with creating a unique nongovernmental organization with a mission statement, target country or region and awareness campaign to gain funding from potential investors.
It must also meet one of the specific UN sustainable development goals.
The judges' evaluations are used to adjust the WAMS curriculum.
Karpousis specializes in the practice of family law.
She represents with a diverse clientele including small business owners, licensed professionals, W-2 wage earners and dependent spouses.
Karpousis focuses on the resolution or litigation of divorce, custody issues, child support, alimony, equitable distribution, adoption, relocation and applications to the court for protection from domestic violence and abuse.

Klehr Harrison Harvey Branzburg announced that Katherine Missimer and Matthew McHugh join the firm as of counsel and associate, respectively, in its zoning and land use practice group.
Missimer, a real estate and land use attorney, primarily represents property owners and developers with respect to real estate development projects.
These include land use and zoning relief as well as the preparation of condominium and planned community documentation.
She also has experience representing clients before the Philadelphia Zoning Board of Adjustment and the zoning hearing boards of surrounding townships and municipalities.
McHugh focuses his practice on real estate, land use/zoning and general corporate matters, with experience in real estate acquisitions and financing and entitlement.
He appears before various zoning hearing boards and governing bodies as part of the zoning and subdivision and land development approval process and served as solicitor to Lower Southampton Township Zoning Hearing Board since 2012 and Bensalem Township Zoning Hearing Board since 2019.
Previously, Missimer and McHugh both practiced at Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel.
|Elected and Appointed
Daniel R. Sulman, a former Judge of the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas who served in the family court division, was elected to a six-year term as a member of the Philadelphia board of revision of taxes.
The board of revision of taxes is an independent, seven-member board appointed by the board of judges of the Philadelphia Common Pleas Court.
The board hears assessment appeals and determines the value for a property when there is an appeal.

Nicholas Sandercock, an attorney with Gross McGinley, was appointed to serve on the foundation board for LifePath, an organization providing residential and community programs for individuals with autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities.
As a foundation board member, Sandercock joins a group of professionals and community leaders who help guide the organization in funding its programs and initiatives.
LifePath strives to cut across the lines of racial, ethnic, educational, social and economic backgrounds to ensure the service to people needing specialized support.
Since its founding in 1974, the organization has grown to include more than 100 community living arrangements and programs throughout the region including outpatient psychiatric services, vocational training programs, early intervention, lifesharing and supported living, and a technology center.
Sandercock is a member of Gross McGinley's litigation team, providing legal counsel in medical malpractice defense, insurance defense and commercial litigation matters.
Sandercock is a volunteer at the Gress Mountain Ranch, where he and his family helps abused animals find homes.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
