Emmanuel O. Iheukwumere of the Emmanuel Law Firm was appointed to the editorial board of the law journal of the International University of Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina by the school’s dean of the faculty of law.
Iheukwumere is the managing shareholder of the Emmanuel Law Firm, a Philadelphia plaintiffs personal injury law firm with a focus on medical malpractice litigation.

Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young attorneys Lawrence P. Stadulis, Sara P. Crovitz and John M. Baker served as panelists for Strafford Publications’ webinar, “Regulation Best Interest and Other New SEC Standards of Conduct: Impact on Broker-Dealers, Investment Advisers and Investment Companies.”
The panel discussed the SEC’s adoption of Regulation Best Interest, Form CRS and other rules and interpretations and their effect on registered investment advisers, registered broker-dealers and investment companies.
Stadulis chairs Stradley Ronon’s broker-dealer regulatory group and co-chairs the firm’s fiduciary governance group and investment advisers group.
He advises clients in matters pertaining to the registration and regulation of investment advisers and investment companies under federal and state securities laws.
Stadulis also manages related issues pertaining to investment advisers and investment companies, including matters involving ERISA, broker-dealer regulation and banking laws.
Crovitz provides counsel on all aspects of investment company and investment adviser regulation.
Prior to joining Stradley Ronon, she was deputy chief counsel and associate director of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s division of investment management.
She worked at the SEC for 21 years, including 17 years in the division of investment management focusing on issues under the Investment Company and Investment Advisers Acts of 1940.
Baker focuses his practice on complex securities law and banking issues for mutual funds and their boards of directors/trustees, investment advisers, broker-dealers, banks, hedge funds and other participants in the financial markets.
He created and moderates FundLaw, an online discussion group that reports developments and changes in securities law, with an emphasis on legal issues impacting the investment management industry.

McNees Wallace & Nurick attorney Devin Chwastyk is slated to serve as a panelist at IntermixIT’s Cyber Security Panel Workshop 2019 on Aug. 22 at 1700 Degrees Steakhouse in Harrisburg.
Chwastyk, along with professionals from IntermixIT and Datto, will provide tips on how to protect businesses from the growing ransomware epidemic.
While the event is free, registration is required and seating is limited.
Chwastyk is chair of the McNees privacy and data security practice group where he advises clients on how to get ahead of data exposure by developing data security policies, privacy disclosures, breach response plans and associated training programs.
Chwastyk holds the certified information privacy professional (U.S.) designation from the International Association of Privacy Professionals.

Capehart Scatchard hosted the Asian Pacific American Lawyers Association of New Jersey’s annual South Jersey Mock Interview Workshop.
The workshop was sponsored by Rutgers Law School Minority Student Program and Rutgers Law Center for Career Development.
It featured a discussion on interviewing methods, tips and techniques and allowed law students to practice interviewing while receiving real-time coaching from practicing attorneys.
Capehart Scatchard attorneys Sanmathi Dev and Ruby Delarosa participated in the event. The event was hosted by Capehart Scatchard’s diversity and inclusion committee, which Dev leads.

Driscoll from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr have stepped in to represent Symbotic Inc., an A.I.-enabled technology platform that focuses on increasing supply chain efficiency, and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
