Thomas, Thomas & Hafer announced the hiring of Jared M. Mellott.
Mellott will be working out of the firm's Harrisburg office.
Mellott began his legal career as a judicial law clerk for the York County Court of Common Pleas. During his time there, Mellott assisted in civil, family and juvenile legal matters.
In 2009 Mellott joined the York County District Attorney's Office as a deputy prosecutor.
In 2012, the York district attorney promoted Mellott to the position of senior deputy prosecutor.
As a senior prosecutor, Mellott supervised the vehicular crimes unit, prosecuting cases involving major vehicle collisions, including fatalities and serious injuries, as well as DUI and auto theft cases.
Mellott later supervised the felony drug and forfeiture unit, prosecuting drug overdose deaths, possession with intent to deliver, and civil asset forfeiture cases.
As supervisor of one of the general trial teams, Mellott continued to handle felony drug cases as well as vehicular homicide, robbery, burglary and assault cases.
Mellott will be joining the general liability group.

Barley Snyder announced that Martin R. Siegel joined the firm as an of counsel attorney.
Siegel is a member of the firm's real estate practice group and environment and energy industry group, bringing with him more than two decades of litigation experience with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and additional experience counseling businesses in private practice.
Siegel's currently serves as board of director at the Chesapeake Legal Alliance in Annapolis, Maryland, and the Water Science Institute in Lancaster.
|Elected and Appointed
Kara M. Beck, an attorney with Gross McGinley, was appointed to the Branch Advisory Council for the YMCA of Allentown.
As a board member, Beck will help guide the organization in its mission to nurture the potential of kids and support the local community while helping those within lead healthier lives.
The Allentown YMCA, a branch location of the Greater Valley YMCA, offers programs to people of all ages, backgrounds and fitness levels. The organization also offers child care and early learning services and acts as a warming center in the winter for Allentown's homeless.
The Greater Valley YMCA is volunteer-led, operating seven locations throughout the greater Lehigh Valley area.
Beck is a member of Gross McGinley's litigation group, counseling clients in contract disputes and commercial litigation matters.
She assists the firm's insurance defense clients in coverage matters.
Beck worked as an attorney at a large Pittsburgh law firm prior to returning to the Lehigh Valley.
She earned her Juris Doctor from Duquesne University School of Law in 2017.

Driscoll from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr have stepped in to represent Symbotic Inc., an A.I.-enabled technology platform that focuses on increasing supply chain efficiency, and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

Edmund Polubinski and Marie Killmond of Davis Polk & Wardwell have entered appearances for data platform software development company MongoDB and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The case is 1:24-cv-07594, Roy v. Ittycheria et al.

The suit was filed Sept. 7 in Wisconsin Western District Court by Levine Eisberner LLC and Siri & Glimstad on behalf of a project manager who claims that he was wrongfully terminated after applying for a religious exemption to the defendant's COVID-19 vaccine mandate. The case, assigned to U.S. Magistrate Judge Anita Marie Boor, is 3:24-cv-00630, Secker, Nathan v. Epic Systems Corporation.

David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
