Networking at Estia
The Association of Corporate Counsel will host a "Meet Your Counterparts Network" reception Sept. 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Estia Greek Taverna, 222 N. Radnor Chester Road, Radnor. Meet your counterparts at a casual Mediterranean tavern featuring Greek fare. There is plenty of on-site parking. Catch up with your ACCGP colleagues and friends, and relax while enjoying hors d'oeuvres and libations. This event is free for chapter members, however, registration is required. $40 for nonmembers. Diversity Discussion
ACC Greater Philadelphia will host an event, "Diversity, Inclusion and Innovation: Magnifying Our Impact Through Collaboration," on Sept. 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the PBI Conference Center, Wanamaker Building, 100 Penn Square East, 10th Floor, Suite 1010, Philadelphia.
Join ACC Greater Philadelphia for lunch and a collaborative presentation with the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. Check-in and lunch begin at 11:30 a.m. The first part of the program is a facilitated, interactive discussion developed by the Continuing Legal Education Board of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University on issues of racial, ethnic and gender bias in the legal profession including the impact of implicit bias on diverse team building and persons with differing sexual orientations.
In the second part of the program a panel of law firm representatives and general counsels will discuss how representatives of law firms and legal departments, through hiring and their purchase of legal services, engage their commitment to promote women, lawyers of color, and persons with differing sexual orientations as outside counsel and expand their professional growth and development within law firms. The panel will review best practices and various approaches law firms and legal departments might use through collaboration and partnerships, joint venturing, co-counseling, and subcontracting. Panelists include: Tom Sager, partner at Ballard Spahr and former general counsel and senior vice president at DuPont Co., Anthony E. Gay, vice president and general counsel at PECO Energy and Maria L. H. Lewis, chief diversity officer and counsel at Drinker Biddle & Reath.
Free for ACCGP members. The cost of this event for non-ACCGP members is $149. Seminar on Judiciary
The Rendell Center in conjunction with the Annenberg Public Policy Center and the University of Pennsylvania Law School is conducting a one-day seminar on the Independence of the judiciary with a top flight lineup of distinguished speakers. The seminar, titled "Symposium on Fair and Impartial Judiciary," is set for Oct. 26, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at The Rendell Center for Civics and Civic Engagement Annenberg Public Policy Center, 202 S. 36th St., Philadelphia. J. Brugh Lower of Gibbons has entered an appearance for industrial equipment supplier Devco Corporation in a pending trademark infringement lawsuit. The suit, accusing the defendant of selling knock-off Graco products, was filed Dec. 18 in New Jersey District Court by Rivkin Radler on behalf of Graco Inc. and Graco Minnesota. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Zahid N. Quraishi, is 3:24-cv-11294, Graco Inc. et al v. Devco Corporation.

Rebecca Maller-Stein and Kent A. Yalowitz of Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer have entered their appearances for Hanaco Venture Capital and its executives, Lior Prosor and David Frankel, in a pending securities lawsuit. The action, filed on Dec. 24 in New York Southern District Court by Zell, Aron & Co. on behalf of Goldeneye Advisors, accuses the defendants of negligently and fraudulently managing the plaintiff's $1 million investment. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Vernon S. Broderick, is 1:24-cv-09918, Goldeneye Advisors, LLC v. Hanaco Venture Capital, Ltd. et al.

Attorneys from A&O Shearman has stepped in as defense counsel for Toronto-Dominion Bank and other defendants in a pending securities class action. The suit, filed Dec. 11 in New York Southern District Court by Bleichmar Fonti & Auld, accuses the defendants of concealing the bank's 'pervasive' deficiencies in regards to its compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and the quality of its anti-money laundering controls. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian, is 1:24-cv-09445, Gonzalez v. The Toronto-Dominion Bank et al.

Crown Castle International, a Pennsylvania company providing shared communications infrastructure, has turned to Luke D. Wolf of Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani to fend off a pending breach-of-contract lawsuit. The court action, filed Nov. 25 in Michigan Eastern District Court by Hooper Hathaway PC on behalf of The Town Residences LLC, accuses Crown Castle of failing to transfer approximately $30,000 in utility payments from T-Mobile in breach of a roof-top lease and assignment agreement. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Susan K. Declercq, is 2:24-cv-13131, The Town Residences LLC v. T-Mobile US, Inc. et al.

Wilfred P. Coronato and Daniel M. Schwartz of McCarter & English have stepped in as defense counsel to Electrolux Home Products Inc. in a pending product liability lawsuit. The court action, filed Nov. 26 in New York Eastern District Court by Poulos Lopiccolo PC and Nagel Rice LLP on behalf of David Stern, alleges that the defendant's refrigerators’ drawers and shelving repeatedly break and fall apart within months after purchase. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Joan M. Azrack, is 2:24-cv-08204, Stern v. Electrolux Home Products, Inc.
