Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young attorney Karl Myers was appointed to chair of the firm's appellate practice group.
In his new role, Myers oversees attorneys across the firm who appeals cases before the federal and state courts and administrative agencies.
This includes the U.S. Supreme Court; the U.S. courts of appeals; the Pennsylvania supreme, superior and commonwealth courts; and other state appellate courts in jurisdictions where the firm practices.
Myers is an appellate lawyer who argues and briefs cases before the appellate courts of Pennsylvania and other jurisdictions.
He maintains a particular focus on cases before the Pennsylvania supreme, commonwealth and superior courts, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, including litigation involving state and federal constitutional challenges, Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law requests, government contracting and bid-protest disputes, insurance insolvency and regulatory matters, state administrative agency disputes, complex commercial actions and other types of civil cases.
Myers serves as counsel of record in cases before Pennsylvania's appellate courts.
Myers currently serves as co-chair of the appellate advocacy committee of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and is a charter member of that committee, having been a member since its formation in 2003.
Myers also is an active member of the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court Historical Society and the Third Circuit Bar Association.
He serves as vice chair of the administrative law section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association.
He also serves as vice chair of the American Bar Association's appellate advocacy committee, tort trial and insurance practice section.

Capehart Scatchard shareholder Nicholas Dibble is set to present "Emerging Issues in New Jersey Workers' Compensation" at noon Sept. 19.
Dibble is slated to discuss recently released New Jersey appellate decisions as well as recent changes to the workers' compensation statute.
Topics covered include occupational illness, average weekly wage, jurisdictional requirements, and the statute of limitations.
The course, which is to be held at Capehart Scatchard, is approved for 1.2 New Jersey ethics credits and 1.0 Pennsylvania credit (pending).

Greenberg Traurig added A. Michael Pratt to its Philadelphia office as a shareholder.
He focuses his practice on complex commercial and financial services litigation. Pratt, who served as the 81st chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association, spent a large part of his legal career as a partner at Pepper Hamilton.
Previous professional roles include serving as a litigation chief for a Fortune 100 company and as a chief deputy city solicitor charged with overseeing the commercial litigation division at the city of Philadelphia's law department.
His previous civic engagements includes an appointment as a commissioner on the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, board roles at Community Legal Services Inc., the Defender Association of Philadelphia, and the Committee of Seventy to president of the Barristers' Association of Philadelphia Inc.
He also volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Attorneys from A&O Shearman has stepped in as defense counsel for Toronto-Dominion Bank and other defendants in a pending securities class action. The suit, filed Dec. 11 in New York Southern District Court by Bleichmar Fonti & Auld, accuses the defendants of concealing the bank's 'pervasive' deficiencies in regards to its compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and the quality of its anti-money laundering controls. Crown Castle International, a Pennsylvania company providing shared communications infrastructure, has turned to Luke D. Wolf of Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani to fend off a pending breach-of-contract lawsuit. The court action, filed Nov. 25 in Michigan Eastern District Court by Hooper Hathaway PC on behalf of The Town Residences LLC, accuses Crown Castle of failing to transfer approximately $30,000 in utility payments from T-Mobile in breach of a roof-top lease and assignment agreement.
