Barley Snyder continued the expansion of its regional office model with plans to move into Schuylkill County and open a new office featuring two new attorneys.
The two newest attorneys–partner David H. Rattigan and associate Michael W. Fox–will be based out of the new Schuylkill Haven office full time.
The new office–Barley Snyder's 10th–will be located at 950 E. Main St. in Schuylkill Haven in the Miller Bros. Construction complex. The office opening is planned for early October.
The move will stretch Barley Snyder's footprint into Schuylkill County for the first time in the firm's history and is its fourth new market since 2017.
Rattigan is a business attorney who also is a certified public accountant.
He works with families and businesses in business formation and operation, succession planning and estate planning and administration.
He also works with commercial real estate development, financing and leasing.
Fox is a Lebanon County native who returned to the region in 2017 after working as a real estate attorney in Philadelphia, following his graduation from Temple University Beasley School of Law.

Thomas, Thomas & Hafer announced the hiring of Jared M. Mellott.
Mellott will be working out of the firm's Harrisburg office.
Mellott began his legal career as a judicial law clerk for the York County Court of Common Pleas.
During his time there, Mellott assisted in civil, family and juvenile legal matters.
In 2009 Mellott joined the York County District Attorney's Office as a deputy prosecutor.
In 2012, the York district attorney promoted Mellott to the position of senior deputy prosecutor.
As a senior prosecutor, Mellott supervised the vehicular crimes unit, prosecuting cases involving major vehicle collisions, including fatalities and serious injuries, as well as DUI and auto theft cases.
Mellott later supervised the felony drug and forfeiture unit, prosecuting drug overdose deaths, possession with intent to deliver, and civil asset forfeiture cases.
As supervisor of one of the general trial teams, Mellott continued to handle felony drug cases as well as vehicular homicide, robbery, burglary and assault cases. Mellott will be joining the general liability group.

H. Jeffrey Brahin presented a seminar titled "Confessions of Judgment–The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" at the Pennsylvania Bar Institute A Day on Real Estate seminar, which involved courses presented at the 2018 PBI Real Estate Institute.
The seminar was a comprehensive overview of confessions of judgment, including drafting issues, filing and challenging the judgment, and issues on appeal.
Brahin focuses his practice on complex commercial and real estate litigation and real estate and corporate transactional work.

Driscoll from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr have stepped in to represent Symbotic Inc., an A.I.-enabled technology platform that focuses on increasing supply chain efficiency, and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

Edmund Polubinski and Marie Killmond of Davis Polk & Wardwell have entered appearances for data platform software development company MongoDB and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The case is 1:24-cv-07594, Roy v. Ittycheria et al.

The suit was filed Sept. 7 in Wisconsin Western District Court by Levine Eisberner LLC and Siri & Glimstad on behalf of a project manager who claims that he was wrongfully terminated after applying for a religious exemption to the defendant's COVID-19 vaccine mandate. The case, assigned to U.S. Magistrate Judge Anita Marie Boor, is 3:24-cv-00630, Secker, Nathan v. Epic Systems Corporation.

David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
