Lamb McErlane partner Vince Pompo was a co-presenter at the Pennsylvania Municipal Authorities Association's annual conference.
In this case study presentation, Pompo and a panel discussed the steps taken by two authorities to transfer ownership of a smaller financially struggling authority to a larger regional authority and how this competing private utility interests impact the structure of the transaction.
The PMAA is a voice of community-based services representing the interests of more than 2,600 municipal authorities across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. PMAA is the largest association in Pennsylvania specifically representing the interests of municipal authorities.
At Lamb McErlane, Pompo is partner and chairman of the municipal law department and the environmental law practice group.
His practice areas include municipal, land use and environmental law.
Pompo is a frequent speaker on municipal and environmental issues and as a presenter on open space, conservation easements, land use and environmental matters for organizations including the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors, the Pennsylvania Land Trust Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association.
He practices before the Pennsylvania Environmental Hearing Board and all levels of state and federal courts and before local zoning boards and commissions.
Pompo is also chairman of the East Bradford Township, Chester County board of supervisors.
He is the township solicitor for a number of Chester County municipalities including New Garden, Sadsbury, West Whiteland and Willistown Townships, as well as several municipal authorities including Caln Township Municipal Authority, Chester County Solid Waste Authority, New Garden Sewer Authority, Oxford Area Sewer Authority, Oxford Area Recreation Authority, Pottstown Borough Authority and Valley Forge Sewer Authority.
Most recently Pompo was elected as president of Lundale Farms Inc., a nonprofit community of organic farmers.

McNees Wallace & Nurick attorney Vance Antonacci is slated to speak at a meeting for the Financial Planning Association and The Estate Planning Council of Central Pennsylvania on Sept. 24.
Antonacci's presentation, "PA Inheritance and Estate Tax," will detail the Pennsylvania Inheritance Tax.
It will also provide an outlook for future developments and planning opportunities.
Vance is chair of the McNees estate planning practice group.
He concentrates on the areas of estate planning, business succession planning and estate and trust administration.
He represents business owners, executives, professionals and other individuals in all phases of estate planning, including the preparation of wills, various types of trust agreements, charitable planning and family limited partnerships.
In addition, he provides advice on buy-sell agreements and the structuring of business transactions such as asset sales, stock sales and mergers.

Philadelphia intellectual property law firm Panitch Schwarze Belisario & Nadel announced that it added a technical adviser with a background in engineering to its team of intellectual property attorneys and advisers.
Jason N. Thompson is a technical adviser and mechanical engineer focusing on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in thermodynamics, biomechanics and fluid systems.
Prior to joining Panitch Schwarze, Thompson served as a primary examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
At the USPTO, Thompson applied engineering principles, primarily in thermodynamics, to examine patent applications for heat exchangers and cryogenic air separation.
He also coordinated with attorneys and patent agents to facilitate patent applications, provided inter-office research and classification guidance, and supported management in training junior examiners.

Driscoll from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr have stepped in to represent Symbotic Inc., an A.I.-enabled technology platform that focuses on increasing supply chain efficiency, and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

Edmund Polubinski and Marie Killmond of Davis Polk & Wardwell have entered appearances for data platform software development company MongoDB and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
