The Philadelphia Bar Association hosted members of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania at its 2019 Bench-Bar and annual Conference at Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Attendees of the event included Justice Kevin M. Dougherty, Philadelphia Bar Association Chancellor Shelli Fedullo, Chief Justice Thomas G. Saylor, Justice Sallie Updyke Mundy, Justice Max Baer and Saltz Mongeluzzi Barrett & Bendesky associate Benjamin J. Baer.

McNees Wallace & Nurick is set to host its annual State and Local Taxes for Pennsylvania Businesses Seminar from 8:30 a.m. to 4:20 p.m. Friday at the Hollywood Casino in Grantville.
Attendees will gain knowledge regarding topics including the Pennsylvania sales tax, alternative resolution strategies, property tax reform, sales and use tax refunds, reverse audits, trust fund recovery penalty, and the Department of Revenue Board of Appeals.
Serving as guest speakers are Pennsylvania Rep. Frank Ryan and Lauren Zaccarelli, chair of the Department of Revenue board of appeals.

U.S. District Judge C. Darnell Jones II of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania was awarded the 2019 American Board of Trial Advocates Jurist of the Year Award.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
