Horn Williamson announced that retired Judge Gene D. Cohen of the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas joined the firm as inside general counsel.
Cohen will focus his practice on commercial litigation. He will helm the firm's alternative dispute resolution practice and serve as arbitrator and mediator for fee disputes and intra-law firm disputes.
He also will be available for analysis in fee disputes and legal malpractice claims as an expert witness.
In 2005, Cohen retired from his first term as a judge in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas after 17 years on the bench. Cohen's second term began in 2016 and concluded Oct. 15.
Prior to his first term on the bench, Cohen spent nearly 18 years in private practice and served in the Armed Forces in the U.S. Army Military Police Corps as a captain.
Between his two judicial terms, Cohen was a law firm partner in Philadelphia, practicing in all aspects of commercial litigation with an emphasis on real estate and railroad matters.
Honored
McNees Wallace & Nurick attorney Rachel Hadrick is set to be awarded The Fund for Women & Girls' 2019 Rising Philanthropists Award, which recognizes a woman who impacts local organizations and is recognized as a leader in the South Central Pennsylvania community.
Hadrick is scheduled to be presented with the honor at the Power of the Purse fundraiser in Harrisburg on Nov. 8.
Hadrick holds positions within the Pennsylvania Bar Association, participates with the Dauphin County Bar Association and spends her free time speaking to, mentoring and tutoring young women and girls.
She serves on the Pennsylvania Bar Association diversity team, leads the PBA's minority bar committee Central Pennsylvania Minority Law Day subcommittee and is on the Dauphin County Bar Association's equal professional opportunity committee.
Hadrick volunteered with the Jurist Academy (also leading an ad hoc committee to evaluate the viability of that program) and served on the board for Boys and Girls Club of Harrisburg.
Hadrick is a Deacon at her church, is part of the organization's praise team and volunteers as a member of Beat the Streets Ministries, which aims to show support for areas of the community hit hard by violence.
The Fund for Women & Girls is an initiative of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities. Its goal is to broaden the awareness of and response to issues affecting women and girls through the power of collective philanthropy.
Elected and Appointed
Charny, Karpousis, Altieri & Donoian partner Nicole Donoian-Pody was appointed to the New Jersey State Bar Association District IV fee arbitration panel–Camden and Gloucester Counties for a four-year term.
The committee, which is volunteer-based, is governed by the Office of Attorney Ethics and aims to maintain legal professionalism.
This includes reinforcing applicable Rules of Professional Conduct and Court Rules, preparing proper responses to fee arbitration complaints, and providing effective hearing participation as to legal fee disputes.
As a member of the District IV fee arbitration panel, this will be the third term for Donoian-Pody.
She previously served as and continues to be chairperson of her committee.
Donoian-Pody has 19 years of experience in all aspects of family and matrimonial law, including alimony, child support, child custody, parenting time, grandparent's rights, division of assets and prenuptial agreements.
A particular focus of her practice includes complex divorce matters involving unique issues, substantial marital estates and business valuations.
As a family law mediator, Donoian-Pody serves couples who want to take advantage of alternative dispute resolution and avoid litigation.
Donoian-Pody serves as a matrimonial early settlement panelist in Camden, Burlington and Gloucester Counties in New Jersey.
She is a member of the family law committees of both the Burlington and Camden County bar associations and is a master with the Thomas S. Forkin Family Law American Inn of Court, where she is the secretary on the executive committee and a former chair of its membership committee.

The suit, accusing the defendant of selling knock-off Graco products, was filed Dec. 18 in New Jersey District Court by Rivkin Radler on behalf of Graco Inc. and Graco Minnesota. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Zahid N. Quraishi, is 3:24-cv-11294, Graco Inc. et al v. Devco Corporation.
