Karen E. Grethlein, associate in the professional liability department at Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin, was elected and installed vice president of the Philadelphia chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction.
Her one-year term began Oct. 1 and will extend through October 2020.
In addition to architectural, engineering and construction defect litigation, Grethlein focuses her practice on privacy and data security matters.
Active in the Pennsylvania Bar Association, she serves as a member at large for the commission on women in the profession and on the executive council of the young lawyers division.
She is a graduate of the Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law and is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Phyllis Horn Epstein of boutique tax firm Epstein, Shapiro & Epstein participated in an educational panel discussion at the offices of the Internal Revenue Service Philadelphia campus for new revenue officer hires as part of a new initiative to hire 600 additional IRS collection officers nationwide.
This session provided the revenue officers with a practitioner perspective and the opportunity to engage in an informative discussion about IRS collection practices.
Epstein is a partner with Epstein Shapiro, where she focuses her practice on tax planning and representation before the IRS and the U.S. Tax Court and related matters including trust and estate administration, business planning and tax.
She is a fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel and frequent author and speaker on tax-related issues.
Events
The Philadelphia Association of Defense Counsel, the Pennsylvania Defense Institute and the Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law raised over $1,000 to support Alex's Lemonade Stand during a recent fundraising event.
The volunteers were led by Lauren Steins, Nick Cummins and Emily Farris.
Alex's Lemonade Stand aims to fund research, raise awareness, support families and empowering people to help cure childhood cancer.

The Philadelphia Association of Defense Counsel and GALLOP–LGBTQ+ Lawyers of Philadelphia are set to present an ethics CLE program titled "Modeling Inclusion: Sexual Orientation and the Model Rules" at 5 p.m. Nov. 12 in the Ninth Floor Conference Center, 1515 Market Street.
The program is preceded at 4:30 p.m. by a catered happy hour and followed by a continuation of the happy hour at 6 p.m.
One ethics CLE credit is offered.

Pond Lehocky Stern Giordano will again be partnering with Gibson Temple Baptist Church to help Philadelphians in need this Thanksgiving.
Attorneys and staff from the firm are set to volunteer to help give out turkey vouchers from ShopRite and baskets full of holiday meal necessities to hundreds of families.
This will be the eighth consecutive year Pond Lehocky staff and attorneys have participated in the turkey drive.
The firm's attorneys will also offer free legal consultations to residents.
The turkey drive is an annual holiday tradition for Pond Lehocky's partners, attorneys and employees, who provide Thanksgiving dinners to the less fortunate.
The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. Nov. 16 at the Gibson Temple Baptist Church in Philadelphia.

The suit, accusing the defendant of selling knock-off Graco products, was filed Dec. 18 in New Jersey District Court by Rivkin Radler on behalf of Graco Inc. and Graco Minnesota. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Zahid N. Quraishi, is 3:24-cv-11294, Graco Inc. et al v. Devco Corporation.

Yalowitz of Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer have entered their appearances for Hanaco Venture Capital and its executives, Lior Prosor and David Frankel, in a pending securities lawsuit. The action, filed on Dec. 24 in New York Southern District Court by Zell, Aron & Co. on behalf of Goldeneye Advisors, accuses the defendants of negligently and fraudulently managing the plaintiff's $1 million investment. The suit, filed Dec. 11 in New York Southern District Court by Bleichmar Fonti & Auld, accuses the defendants of concealing the bank's 'pervasive' deficiencies in regards to its compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and the quality of its anti-money laundering controls. Wolf of Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani to fend off a pending breach-of-contract lawsuit. The court action, filed Nov. 25 in Michigan Eastern District Court by Hooper Hathaway PC on behalf of The Town Residences LLC, accuses Crown Castle of failing to transfer approximately $30,000 in utility payments from T-Mobile in breach of a roof-top lease and assignment agreement.
