Hamburg, Rubin, Mullin, Maxwell & Lupin announced that attorneys John F. Walko and Nathan M. Murawsky presented to the Police Chiefs Association of Montgomery County on the topic of "Police Officer Social Media and Electronic Device Usage."
Walko, an attorney in the firm's municipal department, discussed how to properly address and establish departmental policies related to officers' social media usage and how to best address record requests made under the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law.
Murawsky, a civil litigator, spoke to the lengths to which courts will allow litigants to discover and investigate social media and the admissibility of social media in various legal settings.
Walko serves as the solicitor for Narberth Borough and the Montgomery County recorder of deeds and as deputy solicitor for Upper Merion Township and East Whiteland Township.
He also assists with the firm's other municipal clients.
In addition, Walko's practice includes the representation of developers, landowners and tenants related to residential, commercial, medical marijuana and institutional/religious land uses, sales and agreements.
Walko previously served as a Montgomery County district attorney.
In 2011, Walko was promoted to captain of economic crimes for Montgomery County. Murawsky represents injured persons in personal injury matters.
His experience includes cases involving auto accidents, premises liability, medical malpractice, professional negligence, liquor liability, defective products and civil rights violations cases.
Murawsky tries cases in courts throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey and the Federal Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Murawsky also argues appeals before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, Superior Court, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
He lectures in the areas of automobile and premises liability law, estate issues in wrongful death cases and the impact of social media and information technology in personal injury actions.
Murawsky also served a three-year term as an executive committee member of the Philadelphia Bar Association's young lawyer division.
The Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas approved Murawsky to sit as a settlement master for the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas.
