Montgomery McCracken Walker & Rhoads announced Jon C. Hughes was elected to the firm's partnership.
Hughes focuses his practice on advising public and privately held entities on business transactions including corporate finance, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and financial services.
He joined the firm as of counsel in July and practices out of the firm's Philadelphia office. With the election of Hughes to the partnership, the firm is launching its private capital and emerging companies practice group.
Hughes will serve as co-chair with Ernest D. Holtzheimer.
Both have experience in the emerging companies space.
Hughes and Holtzheimer will lead a multidisciplinary team with experience in venture capital funding, intellectual property protection, tax planning, labor and employment matters, and various other strategic business transactions.
The team will counsel emerging companies and investors through all stages of the corporate life cycle, from initial organization and funding through follow-on financing rounds, transformational M&A transactions and liquidity events.
Group members include co-chairs Hughes and Holtzheimer as well as Wook Chung, Erin K. Clarke, Patrick C. Cullen, Danielle Feldman, Shawn S. Li and John J. Powell.

Klehr Harrison Harvey Branzburg announced that partner Gaetano Piccirilli was appointed by Gov. Tom Wolf as the newest member of the Pennsylvania State Real Estate Commission.
Piccirilli previously served on the commission from 2008 to 2013 and was elected to serve as chair in 2013.
Piccirilli focuses his practice on being a counselor and resource to clients in the infrastructure, construction, real estate and transportation industries.
Piccirilli earned his Juris Doctor from Temple University Beasley School of Law.
The Pennsylvania State Real Estate Commission is the regulatory body responsible for the regulation, licensure and discipline of 50,000 real estate professionals in Pennsylvania.

Pond Lehocky Stern Giordano managing partner Samuel H. Pond was named to the Temple University Beasley School of Law board of visitors.
Composed of Temple Law alumni and others from the local legal community, the board serves in an advisory capacity to the dean of the law school.
Pond will be officially appointed to the board by Temple University president Richard M. Englert and introduced at a Dec. 6 meeting by board of visitors chair Leonard Barrack.
Pond is a 1984 graduate of the law school who returned as adjunct faculty.
He currently teaches a course titled "Workers Compensation & the Profession of Law."
The course addresses both the substantive and procedural aspects of workers' compensation law, as well as all practical facets of the legal profession.

The Philadelphia Association of Defense Counsel is scheduled to hold a luncheon CLE program titled "Epstein's Evidence Refresher" at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 19 at Estia in Philadelphia.
One substantive CLE credit is offered.

The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
