Horn Williamson managing member and co-founder Jennifer Horn and associate Matthew Dempsey are slated to present on contract law Thursday at the Holiday Inn Philadelphia in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
Horn and Dempsey will present "Contract Law Primer for Engineers" at the Engineering Law and Ethics 2019 seminar.
Topics will include reviewing the necessary elements of any contract; understanding contract legal language; determining performance; what constitutes a breach of contract; what damages and remedies are; liability-shifting contract provisions such as warranties, guarantees and indemnities; and making changes to contracts.
Horn has experience in client representation and litigation.
She represents owners, construction managers, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, sureties and homeowners in matters arising from public and private construction projects.
She leads the construction practice group as well as the real estate and title practice group at Horn Williamson.
Dempsey shares his time between the firm's expanding construction practice and the firm's construction defect legal team.
He works with a variety of general contractors, subcontractors and suppliers.
He co-chairs trials in complex construction litigation including all trial preparation, direct examination of witnesses, cross-examination of expert witnesses and case presentation at trial.

Over 1,700 business leaders in 19 cities across the U.S. and Canada are set to participate in the Covenant House Sleep Out—Executives Edition on Thursday.
In Philadelphia, Flaster Greenberg shareholder and chair of the firm's litigation department Jeffrey A. Cohen will join former Philadelphia Phillies managers Charlie Manuel and Larry Bowa, as well as over 100 local business leaders, to sleep on the streets of Philadelphia with the goal of raising awareness and money for youth overcoming homelessness through the Covenant House Pennsylvania.
The sleep out is scheduled to take place in Center City Philadelphia from 7p.m. to 7 a.m.
The night will consist of each team making shelter out of a small tarp and cardboard box and attending educational workshops to learn what the Covenant House does for the youth affected by homelessness, as well as meeting with some of the kids who recently came into the shelter.
The Covenant House Pennsylvania is a program for young people in desperate situations age 21 and under.
Its goal is to help homeless young people become healthy, happy, responsible, productive and ultimately independent adults.
Elected and Appointed
Adam J. Fulginiti, associate in the Philadelphia office of Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin, was selected to serve as the 2020 board observer for the Legal Clinic for the Disabled as part of the Philadelphia Bar Foundation's Board Observer program.
The Board Observer program is a partnership between the Philadelphia Bar Foundation and the Philadelphia Bar Association's young lawyers division.
Designed to provide young lawyers with the opportunity to develop leadership skills, learn about nonprofit governance and make connections in the nonprofit community, the program pairs attorneys with a Philadelphia nonprofit organization for a one-year time period.
In his placement with the Legal Clinic for the Disabled, Fulginiti will attend board meetings, fundraisers and observe other events and activities of the organization.
The LCD provides free legal services to low-income people with physical disabilities and to the deaf and hard-of-hearing in Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties.
A member of Marshall Dennehey's health care department, Fulginiti concentrates his practice in medical liability matters and defends a variety of providers, including physicians, nurses, group practices, nursing homes and hospitals.
He also practices in social services litigation, where he represents local foster care and adoption agencies, residential treatment facilities and other community organizations.
A graduate of Rutgers Law School, Fulginiti is a member of the American and Pennsylvania Bar associations.
