McNees Wallace & Nurick attorney Eric Athey is slated to present on the relation between employee health and business performance at the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry's 2019 Human Resources Conference on Dec. 3 in Hershey.

Athey and Brian Orsinger of Pennsylvania Chamber Insurance will present "Tying Employee Health Outcomes to Business Performance."

They will discuss trends driving recent changes and the strategies to develop packages that meet employee needs while controlling costs and improving outcomes.

Athey is co-chair of the McNees labor and employment practice group, where he provides counseling and representation to employers on a range of labor and employment matters.

He helps unionized and non-union clients navigate situations involving allegations of discrimination and harassment as well as labor negotiations and arbitrations, employment contracts and employment policy development.

Pond Lehocky Stern Giordano partner Stephen Miller is set to speak at the upcoming membership meeting of the Communication Workers of America, Local 13000, Unit 54, Branch 3.

He will discuss the legal rights union members have regarding workers' compensation and Social Security disability benefits.

The event is scheduled to take place at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Polish Falcons No. 146 in New Castle.

Mitchell A. Orenstein is scheduled to present a talk on his book "The Lands in Between: Russia vs. the West and the New Politics of Hybrid War" from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Dec. 5 in the Fitts Auditorium at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School,

This program is approved for 1.5 ethics CLE credits for Pennsylvania lawyers. CLE credit may be available in other jurisdictions as well.

Orenstein's book discusses how Russia's stealth invasion of Ukraine and interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election and later elections in Europe forced the West to confront the problems that "lands in between" (or states between Russia and the EU) encounter, including not only disinformation campaigns but also election hacking, influence operations by foreign security services and frozen conflicts.

Orenstein contends that the hybrid war tactics inflicted by Russia on these "lands in between" present lessons for Western countries.

Elaine Yandrisevits of the Antheil Maslow & MacMinn in Doylestown spoke on special needs trusts at a program hosted by Firstrust Financial Resources.

The program, titled "Understanding Government Benefits for a Special Needs Loved One" also featured speakers Jerel Ruttenberg and Brian C. Smith of Firstrust Financial Resources and was focused on best approaches to financial and estate planning for a family member with special needs, including the uses of special needs trusts and ABLE accounts.

Yandrisevits practices exclusively in the estates and trusts department at Antheil Maslow.

She focuses her practice on estate planning and trusts and estate administration and assists with fiduciary litigation matters.

With experience with special needs trust planning and guardianships, Yandrisevits is a frequent speaker on estate planning, estate administration and special needs planning for continuing legal education and community organizations.

Klasko Law announced that Jordan J. Gonzalez joined the firm as an associate attorney. Gonzalez provides immigration law services to a corporate and individual clients.

Gonzalez is from a small border town community in Texas and hails from a bilingual, binational and bicultural household.

He helps corporate clients hire talent and assists individual clients meet both their career and long-term immigration goals.

Prior to joining Klasko Laws, Gonzalez practiced at a boutique immigration law firm that provided legal advice to corporate clients.

Jordan received his Juris Doctor from the University of Houston.

He participated in the university's immigration clinic, interned with Mexico's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Texas Innocence Network and the American Civil Liberties Union.
