Magna Legal Services held its 7th Chopped for CHOP competitive mock trial in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Culminating in a two-day convention, Susan Metcalfe of Potomac Law Group and Ted Schaer of Zarwin Baum Devito Kaplan Schaer Toddy went head-to-head in a mock trial setting to present their case to a panel of judges made up of claims executives and corporate counsel.
In the end, Metcalfe took the top prize, winning a $20,000 donation made in her name to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
The event, held at the Borgata's Music Box Theatre, featured a surprise cameo by actor Corbin Bernsen.
Speakers
Drinker Biddle & Reath partner Elizabeth A. Diffley taught "Beyond Stockholder vs. Shareholder: A Comparison of Pennsylvania and Delaware Corporate Law" at Business Law Institute 2019, the annual program of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute in Philadelphia.
Diffley serves as an adviser to public and private clients on corporate and securities matters, including capital raising transactions, public company reporting and compliance, and mergers and acquisitions, as well as general corporate matters.
She advises companies, boards and committees on a variety of corporate governance, state corporate law and related matters.
Diffley serves as co-chair of Drinker Biddle's capital markets and securities team.
She also serves on several firm committees, including the women's leadership committee, and runs various aspects of the corporate associates training program.
Elected and Appointed
Flaster Greenberg announced the election of Courtney Dolaway, Angie Gambone, Lauren Schwimmer and Damien Tancredi to shareholders, effective Jan. 1.
Dolaway is a member of Flaster Greenberg's trusts and estates, taxation and business and corporate departments representing individuals and business owners in their estate plans and corporate planning.
She concentrates her practice on estate planning, estate administration, business succession and general corporate matters.
In addition to her shareholder election, she was named chair of the firm's women's initiative. As a member of the firm's family law department, Gambone concentrates her practice in the areas of complex family law, divorce and custody matters.
She also focuses her practice on adoption, family formation and the family law needs of nontraditional and LGBT families.
Additionally, she is a member of Flaster Greenberg's general litigation practice group, representing business entities and individuals in a range of commercial matters. She is active in the firm's diversity committee and is a trustee for the LGBT rights section of the New Jersey State Bar Association.
Schwimmer is a member of Flaster Greenberg's business and corporate department and the firm's aviation industry group.
She represents corporations, airports, individuals and financial institutions in a variety of matters.
She has additional experience in the areas of aviation law, commercial and general civil litigation, banking law and bankruptcy. She is active in the firm's women's initiative.
Tancredi is a member of Flaster Greenberg's bankruptcy, financial restructuring and risk management department focusing his practice on bankruptcy and commercial litigation.

The suit, filed Dec. 11 in New York Southern District Court by Bleichmar Fonti & Auld, accuses the defendants of concealing the bank's 'pervasive' deficiencies in regards to its compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and the quality of its anti-money laundering controls.
