Events
Attorneys and staff from Drinker Biddle & Reath's Philadelphia office volunteered their time to assemble 150 care kits for families at the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House, an organization that supports families of seriously ill children.
This effort was part of WeGetInvolved, Drinker Biddle's ongoing community outreach program.
Elected and Appointed
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court appointed Riley H. Ross III of Mincey Fitzpatrick Ross as a member of the criminal procedural rules committee for a term of five years.
At Mincey Fitzpatrick, Ross' practice includes state and federal criminal law, white-collar criminal defense, civil rights litigation, corporate compliance, internal investigations, employment law and personal injury.
He is on the board of directors for the Pennsylvania Innocence Project, where he is vice president; the Defenders Association of Philadelphia; No Longer Bound; and Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers.
Speakers
Ellen Brotman of BrotmanLaw moderated an ethics panel for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute Business Law Institute with co-panelists Abe Reich, partner and chair emeritus of Fox Rothschild, and Tom Wilkinson, partner at Cozen O'Connor and past president of the Pennsylvania Bar Association.
The panel discussed various ethics issues faced by in-house counsel and commercial litigators, including new precedents from the Pennsylvania courts on attorney-client privilege and work-product issues.
All three presenters practice in the area of professional responsibility and ethics, and Brotman also represents white-collar defendants in federal and state courts.
Honored
Melanie J. Foreman, associate in the Philadelphia office of Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin, is the 2019 recipient of the Craig M. Perry Service Award from the Philadelphia Bar Association young lawyers division.
The award is presented annually to a young lawyer who devotes time and energy to community-oriented activities, including pro bono and charity work.
A member of Marshall Dennehey's casualty department, Foreman is a longtime member of the YLD and currently sits on its executive committee.
She is a member of the executive committee of the Temple American Inn of Court and the Community Legal Services Leadership Council.
She is additionally the founder and chair of Justice Rising, a young professionals organization associated with CLS dedicated to access to justice.
She is also a member of Impact100 Philadelphia, a women's group devoted to philanthropic causes in the community, and she serves as the University of Pennsylvania Alumni interviewing co-chair for the Philadelphia region.
