Barley Snyder announced that partner Salvatore Anastasi was named treasurer and member of the board of directors of the American Intellectual Property Association.
Anastasi is active at the national level with the AIPLA. He was a board member and a member of many of its committees, a former chair of the public education committee and a former chair of the law practice management committee. He is also an AIPLA fellow.
Anastasi is the chair of Barley Snyder's intellectual property practice group, which includes seven patent attorneys.
In addition to the national work he does with the AIPLA and the American Bar Association's intellectual property sections, he is also a board member at the Chester County Bar Foundation and the Chester County Bar Association.

Panitch Schwarze Belisario & Nadel announced that it hired Alia Orbin, a registered patent attorney with experience in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.
Orbin is experienced in the preparation, filing and prosecution of patent applications related to pharmaceutical sciences, organic and inorganic chemistry, biotechnology and material sciences.
She also has experience with conducting searches and reviews to assist in due diligence, patentability and freedom to operate analyses.
Prior to joining Panitch Schwarze, Orbin worked as a patent attorney/agent at another law firm in the Philadelphia area.
Her responsibilities there included drafting and prosecuting patent applications and managing patent portfolios and patent prosecution for a client base that included large corporations, universities and individual inventors.
Orbin has more than 10 years of experience in industrial and academic research in organic chemistry.
She worked as a research associate in medicinal chemistry at a pharmaceutical company.
While there, she synthesized novel antibiotics and was listed as an inventor on several patents and patent applications.
Orbin was an author on multiple articles in scientific journals.
Orbin received her law degree from Temple University Beasley School of Law.

Jared Hawk joined Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr as a partner in the firm's practices in litigation and energy.
Hawk is a trial attorney who handles cases involving the oil and gas industry, products liability, mass torts and commercial disputes.
Hawk focuses on representing exploration and production companies in the Marcellus and Utica Shale plays, including litigation involving bonus payments and royalties, lease invalidity claims, alleged property contamination and health effects from oil and gas drilling and production activities, and joint operating and other development agreements.
Hawk also serves as trial and appellate counsel for designers and manufacturers in products liability actions involving a diverse range of products.
He also has experience litigating mass tort and complex commercial cases, including claims for injunctive relief, breach of contract, breach of warranty, nuisance, trespass and violations of CERCLA and RCRA.
Hawk earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

Steven A. Hann, a principal at Hamburg, Rubin, Mullin, Maxwell & Lupin, spoke at the 2019 Pennsylvania Municipal Authorities Association's 77th Conference and Trade Show in Pocono Manor.
PMAA is the statewide organization representing the interests of municipal authorities in the commonwealth.
At this year's conference, Hann spoke on various topics, including Chesapeake Bay-related issues, an update on recent legislation, regulations and judicial decisions relevant to
Pennsylvania municipal authorities, and an overview of privatization issues affecting water and wastewater authorities in Pennsylvania.
Hann is the East Region solicitor for PMAA, covering the eastern half of Pennsylvania, and is a frequent speaker at PMAA conferences, seminars and webinars.
Hann focuses his practice on environmental and municipal law and chairs Hamburg Rubin's environmental law department.

J. Brugh Lower of Gibbons has entered an appearance for industrial equipment supplier Devco Corporation in a pending trademark infringement lawsuit. The suit, accusing the defendant of selling knock-off Graco products, was filed Dec. 18 in New Jersey District Court by Rivkin Radler on behalf of Graco Inc. and Graco Minnesota. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Zahid N. Quraishi, is 3:24-cv-11294, Graco Inc. et al v. Devco Corporation.
