Meyer, Unkovic & Scott announced that attorney Brandon B. Rothey joined the partnership.
Rothey is a trial lawyer who protects owners, contractors, professionals and their business interests.
He is part of the firm's construction law, litigation and dispute resolution, real estate and lending, creditors' rights and bankruptcy, and insurance practice groups.
Rothey acts as first and second chair trial counsel, and he briefs appeals and argued before the Pennsylvania Superior Court.
He counsels and represents clients in the construction, manufacturing, energy and health care industries, among others.
Rothey regularly represents clients in matters involving construction delay and defect, breach of contract, negligence, negligent misrepresentation and the Pennsylvania Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law.
Rothey is a board member for Open Hand Ministries and represents indigent tenants in hearings before the Pittsburgh Housing Authority and the Allegheny County Housing Authority.
Elected and Appointed
Burns White announced the promotion of three attorneys to member, effective Jan. 1.
The attorneys are located in both Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.
The Pittsburgh promotions are Stephen L. Guzzetti and Andrew C. Hazi.
Guzzetti concentrates his practice on commercial litigation in a variety of industries including banking, financial services and retail and hospitality.
He is a graduate of Duquesne University School of Law and is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
Hazi primarily defends professionals and long-term care and acute care facilities in medical malpractice, health care and general liability matters.
He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
The Philadelphia promotion is Courtney C. Barbacane, a trial attorney defending doctors, hospitals and long-term care facilities in medical malpractice and professional liability matters
in state and federal courts throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
She received her J.D. from Widener University Delaware Law School and medical school lawyers certificate from the Pennsylvania Bar Institute.
She is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.

Pennsylvania Supreme Court Chief Justice Thomas Saylor swore in Bret Binder for a 10-year term on the Chester County Court of Common Pleas at the Justice Center in West Chester.
Saylor then swore in Megan King for a 10-year term on the Pennsylvania Superior Court. Binder, a Democrat, and King, a Republican, were elected to their current judicial positions in November.

Barley Snyder announced that it has accepted two attorneys—Daniel T. Desmond and Justin A. Tomevi—into the firm's partnership.
Desmond is a member of the firm's business, municipal and finance and creditors' rights practice groups.
Based out of the firm's Lancaster office, he is a graduate of the Temple University Beasley School of Law.
He is a member of the board of directors at Bent Creek Country Club and the Farm and Home Foundation of Lancaster County.
He is also the solicitor for several local water and sewer authorities.
Tomevi is a member of the litigation practice group, working in commercial, real estate, fiduciary and banking litigation.
Tomevi, based out of the firm's York office, in 2019 completed his appointed term as a member of the Springettsbury Township board of supervisors in York County.
He earned his law degree at the Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law.
Both Desmond and Tomevi are former summer associates at Barley Snyder and joined the firm after they graduated from law school.

The suit, accusing the defendant of selling knock-off Graco products, was filed Dec. 18 in New Jersey District Court by Rivkin Radler on behalf of Graco Inc. and Graco Minnesota. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Zahid N. Quraishi, is 3:24-cv-11294, Graco Inc. et al v. Devco Corporation.
